Soobin's POV

"Soldier, fire a signal flare! We are retreating back to base!"

"Yes, captain!"

2 months has passed and still no sign of her...

I've sent a number of soldiers assigned to different areas in the field, searching the vicinities of the battlefield and still...no sign of her.

Everyone tells me she's gone but I don't believe it.

She was... -is a brave soldier.

My second-in-command.

The only person I trust and the only person keeping me sane in this endless war.

"Captain! What you just did is dangerous!" her replacement says. The temporary second-in-command. "You should stay here and we will do the work!"

Ugh, she annoys me.

"Are you in a position to boss me around?"

...

"That's what I thought so...tch." I scoffed and walked away from her. "Out of my sight!"

"Captain!" She yelled and pushed me out of the bullet's lane.

I groaned once we hit the ground. I felt her body crash against mine. I used my hands to support my body as I sit up and I hear her groan in pain. I cupped her face and held her closer, I placed messy strands of her hair away from her face and she pulls away.

"Captain, this is not a time to be sentimental -we're in the middle of a battlefield, for goodness sake!" She grunts again and stood up.

"Fcking hell." I mutter and regained my posture. I dodged an enemy charging towards me and twisted his arm making him scream in pain. Gathering all my strength, I threw him on the wall and shot him.

I groaned when I felt a kick to the stomach. I turn around and shot the enemy with no hesitation. I frown when I see Y/n out-numbered and struggling but to my surprise, she took them all down.

"Come on! Let's keep moving!" I yell at her and took her with me and together, we run and dodge the bullets coming at us.

"Ready... Aim... Fire!" The soldiers left behind said.

"Surround the castle! Make sure no one leaves! What happens in the battle, stays in the battle!"

"Charge!"

"Captain! Are you alright?" You asked me once we reached an open area. I nod and shot a flare signal -just as how the mission goes.

While waiting for the other signal from the other side, suddenly a bullet from a corner came flying towards me. Having to fail at dodging it right on time, it hit my left shoulder. I grab it out of pain and let out a groan.

You immediately rushed towards me and tried to lift me up.

"Captain!" You cry out in shock.

You managed to lift me up and together we limp towards a safer area until another bullet came and this time it hit you straight in the arm.

"Y/n!" My eyes widen seeing you cry out in pain. You immediately stood straight up in action and shot the enemy hiding from a corner. You hit the enemy successfully after hearing a yell in pain from the other side.

The adrenaline rush still going. We stood up and continued going. My breaths quicken, my heart beats rapidly and I can feel the energy I have left.

As the sounds of gunshots and yells tone down. We rest at the bottom of the stairs. Catching our breaths.

"Captain..."

I hear you mutter. I carefully sit up and reached for you. I grabbed you and pulled you towards me, your head landing on my chest. And for a while, we stay like this.

The adrenaline rush lasted for an hour until we could feel the aftermath. Our hands shook and our legs weakened.

Our little bubble of peace bursted when the ground shook. Realizing that a bomb blew, you push me away from the impact of the blow. Everything was blurry afterwards...

"We found you at the near exit of the castle... There was no sign of her body but...this..." The soldier says and hands me your name tag.

"The enemy surrendered but...they blew up their own castle. Not leaving anyone behind and not caring if their own troops died. The impact of the blow injured a lot of our soldiers and... she must've pushed you out of the way when the blow hit your area."

I clenched my teeth and gripped my hands tighter. The necklace still in my hands. After the soldier left, I gripped it close to my heart and let out a shaky breath.

Everyone keeps saying you're dead but where's their proof? Your body's missing. You're missing.

I know you're alive. You wouldn't give up so easily...

I know you, but...

Where are you?

Why do you have to hide?

Do I have to wait so long for you?

In many battles, you were present by my side. Fighting alongside me.

But during my battles with my demons, you're missing in action...
