A yowl came from outside of the med den. Spiritstone jerked awake, panting. Eagleflame ran into the den. "Tawnyfur is kitting!" He yowled. He was obviously worried for his mate. Spiritstone quickly got up and went into her herb store. She grabbed a few herbs then ran out of the den.
Cats were crowded in the clearing, murmuring to each other. Spiritstone decided not to listen to their gossip. She squeezed into the nursery and dropped her herbs on the ground before walking over to Tawnyfur. "Okay, I see a head so when I say 'push' you...PUSH!" Spiritstone said. Tawnyfur groaned then sighed when Spiritstone was holding a white kit.
Spiritstone placed the kit by Tawnyfur's belly. "One more." Spiritstone said in a calm voice. A few moments later, Spiritstone was holding a black kit. Spiritstone put the black kit down next to the other kit. She blinked at Tawnyfur before going to get Eagleflame. Eagleflame was pacing outside the nursery. "Two she-kits" Spiritstone licked her paw..
She stepped to the side to let Eagleflame through. She followed after him. In the nursery, Tawnyfur was licking her two kits. Eagleflame purred and licked his mate on the cheek. "What do you want to name them?" He asked, looking down at his two kits. Tawnyfur hesitated then mewed. "Snowkit for the white one and Nightkit for the black one."
Spiritstone froze, remembering her dream. Rootdream, the medicine cat before her, came to her and told her a prophecy. 'Snow with Night will save the Clans from the tiger from within.' Rootdream told her. "They are part of the prophecy!" Spiritstone gasped. She quickly explained to Tawnyfur and Eagleflame about her dream that night.
"Well I believe they are in that prophecy. It's rare to have one white kit and one black kit so they must be important." Tawnyfur mewed. Eagleflame and Spiritstone nodded. Eagleflame touched noses with Tawnyfur before leaving the nursery. Gingerflame, who had been outside with her kits, came in with her four kits. She glanced at the two new kits. "Black and White. That's rare. What are their names?"
"Snowkit and Nightkit." Tawnyfur said, looking up at Gingerflame. Gingerflame's kits, Hopekit, Tinykit, Aspenkit, and Tigerkit leaned in to get a closer look at their new denmates. Hopekit, Tinykit, and Aspenkit were happy but Tigerkit just snickered. "They will be fun to play with."
