'You just walked out?!' Amy's voice rang a decibel higher, her head shaking side to side. She wasn't impressed with the fact Zoe had just left the apartment, not even seeing what happened between Ronnie and his ex. Surely she should have stuck around?

'It's not his ex, it's the girlfriend he never wanted to leave behind' Zoe corrected, stretching out on the sofa, wincing at her repositioning, the twitch in her ribs catching her off guard.

'Same thing, same thing. You need to go back-' Amy hopped up off the chair, making her way over to Zoe.

'Come on, you're going back to that apartment and you're going to sort this shit out with Ronnie' Amy motioned for Zoe to stand up. She frowned, shaking her head and made no effort to get off the sofa. Amy threw a look at Adam, who sighed, tearing himself up off the sofa.

'Wait- no you can't pick me up- Adam!' Zoe attempted to fight back as best as she could, which wasn't great at all. Adam scooped her up bridal style, gently making sure he didn't catch any of her wounds or knock her ribs.

'Come on kid, just go and see what's going on between them' Adam tried to coax Zoe, following behind Amy and out of the apartment.

'I don't want to. I have no reason to be angry-'

'The guy literally saved your ass from a bunch of perverted fucks, sat by your hospital bedside, looked after your whilst you were out on painkillers, brushed over the funny fact of you calling him daddy-'

'Alright' Zoe snapped, pouting in Adam's arms. He chuckled as they left the apartment and entered the New York air. The Christmas lights lit up the streets, snow littering down in small little flurries.

'You really think he's going to continue his relationship with this girl?' Amy asked, glancing over to Zoe.

'I don't know- he looked just as surprised to see her as I did. Katherine looked rather pleased of herself' She hissed, trying to adjust herself in Adam's arms.

'You can put me down, I'm not exactly a flight risk' Zoe reminded Adam, but he shook his head. Zoe groaned, her cheeks burning at the thought of being practically escorted back to the apartment where Ronnie was. She felt sick. She knew she was an idiot for running off like a coward. Eventually, they reached the apartment and Zoe wanted nothing more than to hop out of Adam's arms and make a run for it.

'Don't be a chicken shit, go in there and act normal. Fish out the situation, we will stay with you for a while' Amy promised Zoe, climbing the stairs and making their way to the apartment. Zoe could feel the anxiety mounting up in her as they reached the door to her apartment. Before she could think of an excuse, Amy was knocking on the door.

'I feel sick' Zoe muttered out, trying to hide her head into Adam's shoulder. The door opened and the three of them were greeted by Ronnie.

'Hi' Zoe muttered out sheepishly as she smiled awkwardly at Ronnie.

'We're here depositing this run away back to you' Adam joked, shifting past Ronnie and walking in to the apartment. Zoe scanned the apartment seeing if Katherine or Ronnie's childhood sweetheart was still hanging around. She had a sense of relief flood over her as she realised Ronnie was the only person in the apartment. Adam lay her down on the sofa gently, doing his best not to knock her ribs.

'I wondered where you had gone' Ronnie murmured, rubbing the back of his neck as he closed the door. Amy sat next down to Zoe on the sofa, her eyes glancing over to Adam.
