Protection

You were afraid of the dark, it was a big fear of yours. Calum knew this, after you'd begged to sleep with him after staying over at his house for the first time and confessed that the dark was one of your biggest fears. After that, Calum made a promise that he'd always be there to protect you.

Today, you'd both taken a trip to the local amusement park with Calum and the boys as well as their girlfriends to celebrate you and Calum officially becoming a couple. The day had gone as smoothly as you'd all wished it had, you were having such a fun time, with the rollercoasters being your favourite part. Then it came to the final ride of the day, the haunted house.

When Luke suggested to go in the attraction as the last ride of the day , you hastily agreed to go in, which made Calum smile at your attempt to be brave. You didn't want to seem like a wimp in front of everyone and possibly ruin the fun.

Insisting that you and Calum  follow the others inside and be the last ones to go in, You got in line for the attraction. "We can always wait for the others outside, y/n, you don't have to be brave" Calum spoke softly, taking your hand into his to reassure you. "I have to be brave and face my fears someday" You sighed and held onto Calum's arm "But you'll stay with me the whole time right?" You gazed into his brown eyes, "Of course I will, I made a promise to always protect you, and I intend to keep that promise". Calum connected your lips with his in a short but sweet kiss before you both entered the haunted house, hand in hand.

The first room wasn't as bad as you thought it was going to be, just a few fake cob webs here and there with some eerie music in the background to raise people's adrenaline. "This isn't as bad as I had previously thought" you think to yourself, but the thought didn't last long, after an actor dressed as a zombie had jumped out from behind a prop in an attempt to scare you. You gripped on tighter to Calum's arm, which signalled to him you weren't having the greatest time, so he immediately took you back outside to calm you down.

"It's ok y/n, you won't be doing that again anytime soon" He smiled at you and rubbed your back soothingly as you cuddled into Calum's chest, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat calming you. "Never again, don't want to" you shook your head and he chuckled "That's why I'll always be there to protect you". He planted a kiss on your forehead. "And I'll always love you, I'll always protect you, my darling" you pressed your lips to his, you both taking in the sweet moment of bliss. You may be afraid of the dark, but it wasn't so bad so long as Calum was with you to protect you.
