The Runner & The Glader(Newt x Reader)

1) Greenie.

~Y/n's POV~

      "Minho we gotta go." I yelled to my best friend about 100 feet away as we ran as fast as lightning out of the maze. He caught up running next to me as the walls starts to close ever so slowly but it became narrow for only one at a time. "Y/n go!" I heard him yell over the cries of everyone else in front of the walls. "Minho I swear to god if you don't go we won't get out this time." I scowled as he ran jumping out falling onto the grass as I came out seconds later hearing the walls shut as I fell onto him laughing.

      "God I hate you!" Minho chuckled as we stayed like that for a good 10 minutes watching everyone disappear. In the distance I saw Chuck talking to a new person it seems like. "Come on y/n let's go wash up and have Gally give us massages because I know you're knees and back are terrible." I nodded getting up as we started to run once more. "Oh hey Chuck! New Greenie?" I ran past as I saw a boy taller than me talking to Chuck with Minho still running by my side. I did a double take while giving him a considerable amount of credit for his looks.

We ran back being as he kept trying to walk towards to maze not quite sure what was going on just yet. "HEY!" I ran up in front of him putting my hand on his chest. "Don't. Just trust me." The boys eyes met mine as he towered over me. "What's in there?" His British accent coming into play...bloody hell he was hot. I smiled as he must've caught onto my British accent as well. "Just trust me alright love?" I looked up to him smiling a tad before turning my head to Minho as the blondes eyes filled with curiosity. "What's your name? Being if you can remember." I chuckled slightly. "Newt, and you are?" I removed my hand from his chest. "Unforgettable." I winked walking to Minho as we ran to Gally's hut.

That was 3 years ago and I'm still utterly trapped in this bloody hell with all them.

We met a new Greenie today. As I talked to Minho I always smiled back at the memory of meeting Newt falling for him within the last 3 years. As of now Minho and I still run and Newt was sorted as a Glader always taking notes of Alby and his thoughts, actions almost anything. When Alby wasn't around Newt was always in charge he knew everything there was to know being as Alby being so kind to past the knowledge onto him. I jumped into the box as this brunette haired boy jumped back and away from me looking as scared as looking death in the face.

"Hey. Look at me." I sternly said holding out my hand to help him up. "I'm the only the girl here. If you're going to trust anyone. Please just trust me." I tried to say it as soothing as I possibly could. After a minute or two of pondering he grabbed my hand as I used my strength to support him standing up. "Hey bubs give me your hand." I heard Gally and Minho say at the same time reaching their hands out to me, as I graciously took them I stood up looking back down at the new greenie once again holding my hand out to him. Once again taking hold of my hand I helped him up, as soon as he was up he panicked and ran.

"Ah they never learn do they darling?" I heard Newt's voice come up behind me as I saw Gally about to take off after him. "WAIT DON'T!" I shouted taking a second look at him running. "Minho! I think we just found an alternate runner." I smirked admiring the boys running skills. Turning back to Newt as his face was a solid line, he looked irritably pissed and I just couldn't figure out why. "They never learn darling. Why would they?" I laughed a little while throwing my arms around his neck bringing him into a hug being as I just ran the maze not long ago. "Nice to see you love." Newt whispered into my ear as we let go. "You too Newt!"

After Alby had caught up to the greenie after hours he had finally settled down but refused to talk to anyone but me. As daylight burned I sat on a log near the bonfire trying to have him relax a tad more. "Here drink some of this. Grow some hair on your chest yeah?" I heard Newt come up as I smiled looking up as his blonde locks illuminated by the fire behind him. Mesmerized I just stared at him for a good while as the blonde tried to talk this mysterious boy until Gally called him into the circle. "Hey if you can beat y/n I won't pick on ya!" He laughed as I rolled my eyes. "Y/n pushed Gally out of the circle in under 7 seconds when she was in there." Chuck laughed telling the story of my victory against my other best friend.

I felt arms wrap around my waist and breathing down my neck as I got chills. "Love. It's getting late yeah? Maybe you should get some rest so you can run tomorrow." Newt. I swear this man will bloody kill me one day. Ever since I first ran the maze when he was around I would come back to him crying because he worked himself up believing I would never get out of the maze alive. After 3 years he waits for me at the walls about 15 minutes before I come back with tear filled eyes. I mean every single day. " I need you to get sleep. You have to come back to me."
