Character A is adopted by Character B (you can add more people to the family if you want). Character B (or more) is immortal. Character A dies and Character B (or more) swears to never again get attached to a mortal.
Character A is reborn immortal and seeks out Character B (or more). They look different so Character B (or more) is hesitant to believe that they are Character A but they prove it to them and they live together for eternity.
The rest is up to you!
