The next few days passed quickly and I couldn't help but think about him.
I was sitting in lunch when I heard I had gotten mail. Hearing Hermione and Ginny talk to the side of me while I pretended to care had gotten boring. Upon the arrival of my owl Charmsion, I was surprised. Normally I don't get mail in this way. Usually I mail it out my window and it comes back the same way from my mum and dad. Slightly on edge I took the note preparing myself for what it would say.
"Dear Aurora, your mother and I need to inform you that this year, like the last we need to go to the Bones Christmas ball. We will pick you up at Kings Cross and then only have a small amount of time before we need to rush over to the Bones estate.
Love, Mum and Dad"
A frown found its way to my face before I could stop it, I dreaded this stupid ball every year. All you do is sit around while I get the pleasure of watching my parents get drunk and talk about topics I couldn't care less about. Not to mention that everyone else is usually with their friends and aren't interested in letting me tag along with their group.
"What's wrong Aurora?" asked Ginny with a concerned look on her face. "Nothing Ginny, just that I'm gonna have to spend another Christmas break day at a dumb party like i do every year. I would guess you already know though, considering your dad works at the Ministry. At Least you'll be going as well." I spoke with a small smile.
"Sorry Aurora but i dont go to that ball, we like to spend the whole christmas break at the burrow with Bill and Percy. I won't be getting dragged into it." Ginny said apologetically.
Ginny thought for a minute before her eyes lit up, "You could come with us and spend Christmas at the burrow, or at least a couple days?" she said beaming at me. "Only if you want to, ofcourse, i could imagine you would like to spend time with your family" she spoke shyly.
"Oh Gin you know I would love to but I really do need to catch up on some school work." I said with a small smile while I pulled her into a hug, her red hair brushing against my chin.
She nodded quickly and said I'll see her at classes.
Speaking of classes I groaned as I remembered I have potions. I hate potions, I've never been good at them and Snape has always been an arse about my existence. Whether it be I'm 5 seconds late, don't have an A, or simply my last name, he had something against me.
Looking up at the clock i had 10 minutes but knew he would use whatever time i got there against me i started rushing down the halls headed towards the dungeons.
I've never liked the dungeons; they felt cold and the air was stale in the hallways. I shuddered at the thought of having the Gryffindor common room and dorms down here, I almost felt sorry for the Slytherins, almost.
Opening the door I looked up at the clock and saw I was 5 minutes early. I smiled smugly to myself before sitting down at a table. Looking around I noticed there were two chairs at each table, which I assumed meant partners.
I was the only one in the classroom for about 30 seconds before I heard the door click open, I spun around and met his grey eyes.
"I see you're getting an early start today." he said, raising an eyebrow while he pulled the chair out and slid his bag in front of him. Great. Great, he had to choose the stool next to me.
I grunted in response before resting my head on my hand, my eyes threatening to close.
His eyes pierced daggers into my side, I didn't have to look to know he was staring at me.
"Malfoy," I said, sitting up straight. "Hmm?" he spoke. I glanced sideways to see him staring down at me, he had moved generously closer to me. "What do you want? Why are you staring at me like if you blink I'll disappear. Not that you would care if that happened."
