Personal opinion:
Had to start out with one of my absolute all-time favorites: Young & Beautiful by velvetoscar on ao3. I honestly cannot recommend this fic enough, it is beautifully written, hilarious, heartbreaking, joyful...
The characters for Niall, Liam, and Zayn are amazingly developed and outstanding as well as Louis and Harry's characters. Y & B's Zayn is probably my favorite Zayn from any fics.
Some people find this fic hard to get through, but I went through it so fast, I couldn't stop reading. I will admit that at the beginning it takes a bit to get to know Harry at all, but that's where some of my favorite bits with the other boys are. It is very slow burn, enemies to lovers. STICK WITH IT!! I PROMISE IT'S WORTH IT!!
I could honestly rave on and on about this fic for forever but I'll stop my opinions here and give y'all the summary and trigger warnings! (Pls read this fic please)
Summary: Louis Tomlinson is starting at a very fancy and posh university, with a "stick to myself and get close to no one" attitude. Soon that all changes. His roommate, Niall, an extremely wealthy and boisterous young man with the swearing habits of a sailor, as well as Liam Payne—socialite and academic—and Zayn Malik—the son of the chancellor & the most well-known person in the university— quickly become Louis' best friends. He spends his time getting spoiled by his excessively rich and creative new friends and company. However, there's one catch: Harry Styles. Louis takes an immediate disliking to the overly charming and life-of-the-party Styles. But he's sure there's something more there, behind Harry's empty eyes and his put-on smile. Will he ever get to truly know him?
TW: The fic has a lot of drinking and some drugs. There are mentions of homophobia, parental abuse, and suicide. There is also some not highly detailed scenes of sexual assault. Surprisingly no smut, although a ton of mentions of sex, including having multiple sexual partners. If anyone has read this thinks of more warnings, please comment and I will add them here!
