For Class 1-A, Sato had been patient zero.

He had returned from a weekend at home with a lagging gait; his greeting to the few scattered about the common room interrupted by a coughing fit that had Kirishima scrambling to his side while Izuku leapt up to get him a glass of water. One look at his flushed face had Iida ordering him to bed. Sato had waved off all thoughts of Recovery Girl on the grounds that it was "just a cold" and he'd be "fine in a day of two."

He was not.

And it spread.

Like wildfire.

By Day 3, all of Class 1-A bar Midoriya, Bakugo, Kirishima, Todoroki, and Mina have succumbed. The common room resembles a makeshift field hospital when Recovery Girl arrives and she moves with practiced ease around the groaning piles of blankets. She checks vitals, enquires after symptoms, and imparts comforting words to the sick teenagers she passes; she knows her quirk is no good here. Aizawa stands, stone-faced, by the door as she works, mouth and nose buried in his scarf as he surveys the room with his usual weary gaze, although tinged with a hint of worry that those who've seen it before can identify.

"It's the 'flu," Recovery Girl announces thoughtfully, ignoring the groans. "Nothing much to be done but rest and wait it out."

Izuku chews his lip, worrying the hem of his shirt as he watches the elderly healer chivvy the others to their rooms for where he stands by the kitchen with Todoroki, Mina and Kirishima. Bakugo leans on the fridge, orphaning himself enough to feign indifference but Izuku can see the tension in his shoulders that speaks of concern.

"What gives?" Kaminari whines, febrile gaze running over all of them. "How come none of you are sick?"

"I run 2 degrees hotter than average." Todoroki admits matter-of-factly.

"Tch," Bakugo scoffs. "I'm just too fucking strong for germs to get me."

The reflexive silence is broken by Mina snorting with laughter, an action that earns her a burning glare from the explosive blonde.

"I dunno," she shrugs, placatingly.

"It's probably to do with your acid," Izuku interjects unintentionally, staring at the floor with narrowed eyes. "Your internal pH must be higher than normal so-"

"Ok, ok, I get it," Kaminari groans, massaging his aching head. Izuku is quick to mumble an apology with an embarrassed chuckle, hand scratching at the back of his head.

Mina all but shoves the electricity-user towards the lift and once the last of their classmates have shuffled out of the common room, the sounds of coughing and sneezing have faded, Recovery Girl approaches them. Aizawa takes that as his queue to join her, pushing off the wall with a sigh.

"I'm sure you all know, but rest, adequate fluids and nutrition, and treatment of the symptoms is what's needed in cases of 'flu?" she starts, eyes flicking to them all as they nod in understanding. "Good. The 'flu is bad this year. You're not the only class to have had someone pick it up and spread it-" a soft sigh as she pinches the bridge of her nose. "Unfortunately this means I'm not going to be able to be available as much as I normally would, so you all will have to take care of them in my absence."

Another round of nods, determination in their eyes. A soft smile rests on her features and a shared look with Aizawa; these are good kids.

"Classes are cancelled until this is over," Aizawa informs them, shifting to stand a little straighter. "I don't want anyone to even think of coming to the main building until this clears."
