Alby was walking around the Glade, looking to ensure that everything was in working order. Beads of sweat rolled down his skin in the heat of midday, and he quickly wiped his face as to avoid the substance getting in his eyes. He glanced up for a split second, and that split second was enough for an overwhelming feeling of intense dread to settle inside him.
"Newt!" He screamed out. "Newt, what are you doing?"
achilles, achilles, achilles come down. won't you get up off, get up off the roof?
"Newt, you're freaking me out. Climb back down those shucking vines."
you're scaring us and all of us, some of us love you. achilles, it's not much, but there's proof.
"I'm so sick of this shuck maze, Alby. Sick of it! I'm done."

Newt shook his head, and Alby knew this wasn't a joke. Not anymore. His eyes focused on Newt's hand, on the fingers that were previously so tightly holding the Ivy, the fingers that were now loosening their grip. Alby screamed the boy's name, but it was too late. He started sprinting, but he was too far away; it was no use. All he could do was watch helplessly as the smaller boy's body fell through the air. He could only cringe at the crack that filled the air once he hit the ground.
