"Honey, I'm home!"
I hear Alex walk through the front door. We had been married for 6 months and everything seemed like a fairy tale. We had an amazing house decorated with bright pastel colors, we both had good paying jobs and we were expecting our first child. Being married was like having a sleepover with your best friend everyday! I went down to greet my husband. He looked tired, but happy to see me.
"Hows my little bean?" He asked with a grin on his face.
"The baby is doing fine but it's making me sick." I responded.
He looked at me and smiled again. How do I deserve such a guy like him? I walked to the kitchen and started making dinner. It was a challenge considering that I had been throwing up all day. Alex must be able to read my mind because the next thing he said was "Why don't you go and lay down on the couch. I'll make dinner and then give you a foot massage."
I could not pass up on that offer so I walked to our brightly painted living room and layed down for a nap.I was awoken by a light tap on the shoulder. I saw Alex standing there with a nervous look on his face. "Alex, did something not work out in the kitchen?"
He gave me a sheepish smile and said quickly "Maybe I tried to make spaghetti and when I went to drain the pasta, it spilled all over the floor."
I looked at him and all I could do was laugh. He tried so hard to make me comfortable during the pregnancy, but sometimes it didn't work out. "It's OK Alex!" I laughed as I got up to start cleaning the mess. After the noodles were off of the floor, we decided to go out instead. Alex met me at the door and we walked to the car together.
While at dinner, we talked about what the future held. When we first got married, we weren't expecting to have kids this early but life has surprises. I had a doctors appointment tomorrow and that was the most important one for us. We were going to find out if the baby is a girl or a boy. We both really wanted a girl and we had names picked out already. If we did have a girl, her name would be Allison Ruth and if it was a boy, his name would be Preston Taylor. Just thinking of having a little one with Alex made me feel like the luckiest girl alive.
