A/N: Last update of 2012...It's been a good year!!

Brian turned to Stitch and Gauze. “What happened to her?”

Gauze sighed. “She was in love.”

“With the wrong person,” Stitch added. “He said he loved her, and would never leave her…”

Gauze started to stride around the bar, he looked like an older man now; not a twenty year old man walking around in a pink robe and bunny slippers. “When she was outcast, Kia lost everything. She went to this boys’ house; asking him to take her in, or to go with her…”

“He refused, and admitted that his feelings for her were never true.” Stitch concluded. “She does not believe in love anymore.”

The three men sat in silence thereafter.

Kia felt tears fill her eyes, she couldn’t see and was fumbling in the snow. She fell, and lay in the snow; her shoulders shaking with silent sobs. Two strong arms pulled her up.

She thought it was Brian, or maybe Gauze; the arms pulled her into a warm room. Kia opened her eyes for the first time; a tall figure stood over her.

“There’s my pretty Kia.” He said gently touching her cheek. His black hair fell in his face; he looked deep into her eyes.

“Burn?”

Gauze said that Kia must’ve gone home, so he walked Brian back to the meeting place.

“Well, you really bloodied up the street, didn’t you?” Gauze asked.

“I’m sorry.”

Gauze shrugged. “It’s no problem.” He scooped up all the evidence and started to dispose of it.

“Thanks.”

“Anytime,” Gauze was gone. They had been silent the way back. Brian was wearing a similar shirt to his other, close enough; no one drugged would notice. Brian had noticed that Gauze was a different person when it came to Kia. He and Stitch, both acted so serious when they spoke about her. Though, Gauze and Stitch were the last ones Brian thought would get in a fight, he wouldn’t put it past them to murder someone who hurt Kia. That guy who did…if Gauze and Stitch ever got a hold of him…he’d be sorry.

“Kia, I love you.”

“I don’t want any of your bull.” Kia snapped. “If it took you getting outcast to realize your love, then I don’t want it.”

Burn looked put out, he stared at the floor; “I was drugged to say those things, Kia; I love you, so much.”

Kia couldn’t speak. “I-I…”

“I can see it in your eyes…you know you love me, Kia.” Burn brushed the hair out of her face. “Don’t lie to yourself, baby…”

“I don’t love you.” Kia sniffed, looking away from him.

“Kia, please, I have no one.” He begged.

“I remember those words; mostly because, they were the exact ones I used. I asked you to help cause I had no one.” Kia snipped.

“I remember those words, and I hate that I didn’t save you.” Burn confessed.

“I’m not helping you, Burn.” Kia got up and left the dark room Burn had infested. “I’m not your baby anymore.”

Kia didn’t listen to Burn’s pleas for her to stay. She welcomed the cold night, it froze her tears as she retreated to her hovel.

Jimbo gave her a solemn look as she entered. “He’s back.” She collapsed on her cot. “What do I do?”

Jimbo didn’t speak. “I could just ignore him.” Kia concluded. Jimbo patted the couch beside him; Kia sat down next to him. Jimbo pulled her into a one armed hug; he seemed to say, it’ll be fine.

Kia sniffed away a tear. “It’ll be okay?” she asked. Jimbo nodded; Kia sighed deeply, fighting tears. “Thanks Jimbo.”

Burn stared into the fire in the fireplace. He’d lost her. What was he thinking? That she’d just walk back and be with him? No, he’d hurt her too much; he had no chance now. “Idiot.” He mumbled to himself, she was free now; she was happy to be rid of the likes of him. She deserved better than the likes of him; he was a disgusting miserable… “I should burn.” He whispered, leaning closer to the hearth. “I was, am, awful; I should…”

“Stop it, Burn.” Burn spun around, Belle stood in the doorway, she leaned against the frame. “Took you long enough.”

“Well, I’m sorry the family trait took longer to sink in.” Burn stepped away from the fire.

“Dear brother, you had that way before even I was outcast.” She rolled her eyes. “But intelligence has done nothing for you, still making the same mistakes.”

“I didn’t mean to hurt her, Belle.”

“Oh, but I think you did; even on the drugs you knew what you were doing.”

“So what if I did, Belle? What have I to say? That it was an accident?” Burn shot back. “We were all under the influence.” He paused. “Point is, I love her, Belle; I need her!”

Belle laughed. “You don’t know love, brother. You don’t understand its true power. What Kia had for you was real…now, it’s gone.”

“I wouldn’t’ say so, if I were you.” Burn gave a scorching grin.

“Don’t hurt her again, Burn; I’ll be watching very closely.” Belle walked into the little room.

“What do you care? From what I’ve heard, you two don’t get along very well.” Burn faced the fire again.

“I care enough to keep her safe.” Belle was now, suddenly, right behind him. He jumped, but she wasn’t fazed; her black eyes bore into him. “You will leave her alone, Burn. You know what will happen…otherwise.”

Fear flashed in Burns’ eyes; but only for a second. “You wouldn’t…dear sissy never…”

“You’ve no idea what I am capable of.” She growled, stepping away from him. “But go on, test it…maybe you’ll live up to your name,…Burn.” Belle looked into the eyes, caked with fear and mortal terror. She smiled and left through the door, Burn curled up next to the fire that night; he was less than comfortable.
