After a day filled with activities, I decided to take a shower before dinner to wash off the sweat. Wrapped in a towel, I carried my soap bag into the bathroom, removed the towel, and turned on the shower. The warm water felt soothing until I opened my eyes and noticed my skin was turning red. I looked up to see that the water coming from the showerhead was also red. Checking the taps revealed that they too were dispensing red water.
I emerged from the bathroom wrapped in my towel, moving with a dazed expression.
"ZOMBIE!!!" Chloe shrieked, pointing at me while the rest of my roommates burst into laughter.
"Charlotte, why are you red?" Zoë asked, her confusion evident.
"The shower is dispensing red water, and the taps are the same," I explained.
Mrs. Grace stepped in to investigate. She turned on the shower, scooped a small amount of the red water, and sniffed it. "This smells like raspberry," she said, tasting it with a grimace. "And tastes like raspberry juice. It seems either raspberry juice was accidentally poured into the pipes or the pipes were switched. So, all of you except Charlotte should fetch water from outside. I'll help Charlotte with hers."
"Thanks, ma'am," I replied.
"No problem," she said, taking a bucket and heading outside with the rest of my roommates.
My roommates speculated that the red water incident was a retaliation prank from Lana and her roommates.
"How could it be from Lana and her roommates? I thought Zoë said no one knew about the prank except for the guys," I questioned.
"Maybe the guys told them," Zoë suggested.
"Seriously, how could they?" Chloe asked, frustrated.
Our discussion continued as we reached the dining hall, where the guys were already discussing the same topic.
"What's all the commotion about, girls?" Nick asked.
"Yeah, how was your bath?" Jacob inquired, barely containing his laughter.
"Why are you asking about our bath?" I narrowed my eyes at the guys.
"Whoa! It was just a prank, like the one you girls pulled on Lana and her roommates," Jacob said, raising his hands in defense.
"OUCH!" Jacob yelped as Reggie kicked him.
"Why did you tell them?" Reggie demanded.
I was surprised to find Reggie involved in the prank, as he is usually quite reserved.
"Really, Jacob? Just a prank, huh?" Chloe glared at her brother.
"This is how Lana and her friends felt when you pranked them," Louis said.
"But we had a reason," Zoë said, her face turning red.
"No need to be upset," Nick said mockingly.
"We're not mad, just surprised that you guys pulled a prank on us. How did you even come up with the idea of putting raspberry juice in our pipes?" Nikki asked, intrigued.
"That's because we're the best. We found the pipe leading to your room and added the raspberry juice. Simple as that," Jacob boasted.
"Simple, huh?" Phoebe said, glaring at Jacob.
"Okay, not that simple, but the result was perfect," Jacob admitted.
"So, who exactly did the prank fall on?" Louis asked, looking at us girls.
"None of your business," I replied, feeling my cheeks flush.
"So, I guess it was you," Louis said with a smile.
"Uh-huh, but it wasn't funny," I said, trying to keep a serious tone.
"But it was funny," Nick smirked.
"Whatever," I said, dismissing the comment.
"Maybe you girls should consider not pranking anyone again," Reggie suggested.
As we settled into dinner, the playful banter continued, but the prank had left its mark.
