I had a craving for hot wings, so I decided to go to Xtreme Wings, the best wing spot in Atlanta. I was almost tempted to turn around and go back home because it was raining so damn hard tonight. However when the imaginary taste of hot wings took over my senses, I figured I could stand a little precipitation.
I held a wing in one hand and the other on the steerwheel. I was really making a mess on my face and my hand but the wings were so good I really didn't care at this point.
"Them mother fuckers ain't give me no damn napkins" I mumbled to myself as I approached a red light.
I looked through car searching for napkins when I interrupted by a light tap on the passenger window.
"Who the fuck..." I started, hesitantly rolling the window down halfway.
"Hey" she spoke softly
It was Angel. She was drenched head to toe from the rain. Her hair was stringy and clung to the sides of her faces as well as her shirt from what I could see. She held newspapers over the top of her head that were now limp from the rain.
"Uh wassup?" I replied.
"I noticed you car from school. Well actually I recognized your license plate, considering it's the only one I've seen that says BALL15 on it." She said laughing lightly.
Not really sure why she talking to me through my window in the pouring rain, I just nodded my head. The light finally turned green but she kept talking like it was still red. Luckily, no one was behind me.
"Anyways, as you can see I'm stuck. I usually would be on the number forty two bus around this time but they haven't showed up yet and it's been almost two hours. My mother is at work and I have no one else to really call. Like I said I noticed your car and I was just wondering-"
"So you need a ride?" I asked, interrupting her nervous rambling.
"Yes" she breathed out, half smiling.
"Get in, cars are coming" I said gesturing to the oncoming traffic behind me.
She quickly got inside the car, closing the door and buckling up. I eased my foot on the gas pedal and drove a few blocks up to the gas station, in desperate needs of napkins.
I parked and cut off the car. I threw my bones out of the window and turned towards Angel. She was looking at me with a twisted face.
"What?"
"Why did you just do that?"
"Do what? That?" I asked pointing to to the discared bones on the ground, next to my car.
"Yeah. The the trash can is right there. We're at a gas station with plenty of trash cans, but yet you decide to throw your wings on the ground."
"For the birds." I said simply before opening the door the and getting out.
I went to the bathroom inside the gas station and washed my hands thoroughly.
Satisfied with my now clean hands, I walked out of the bathroom and roamed the aisles picking up a few candies.
I thought about Angel and how she must be freezing from the rain, so I got her a cup of coffee.
"She gone complain about this shit I bet" I said to myself as the I placed my items on the counter.
As I got back in the car, I handed her the cup of coffee.
"What's this for?" She asked.
"I thought you was cold. So I got you coffee. Hot coffee. You don't want it?"
