Derek took me in the combat room to put on my gear. He gave me a vest, some knee guards, and some elbow guards. I don't think I would be wearing a vest before I fight a blood thirsty creature or person in the future. But whatever...
I was so nervous because fighting that weirdo wolf earlier had been my first time ever in combat, so this was going to be interesting. Once Derek and I were all ready, he showed me a proper battle stance. "If you know your about to fight someone, stand with your feet apart, and hands close to your head. Most of the time you never really know when a big fight is coming though." Derek explained. "Ok, I think I'm ready." I said. "Let's go then." Derek said grinning. We circled around for about 20 seconds not sure who was going to make the first move. I sure wasn't going to. I was scared as heck. I guess since Derek knew I wasn't gonna swing first, so he did. He swung at my head, and I immediately doged it. "Not bad for a newbie." Derek laughed. I filled with pride. Then I swung. Not only did Derek dodge it, he grabbed my fist twisting in back just far enough that I felt a little sting of pain.
"Wow, you didn't even say OW, I'm impressed." Derek explained. "Thanks." I said. "I have a quick question..." I went on as he lowered his fists. "Does this hurt?" He stared at me for a second with a look of confusion, as he was distracted I grabbed his arm, and twisted it back. "Damn!" Derek yelled. I took advantage of this opportunity and kicked him in the stomach, which was a suckish idea cause it turns out, his stomach is rock solid cause he works out so much. I winced as the pain rushed through my foot and Derek smiled. "Your pretty good kid, but not good enough to take me down." Derkek immediatly grabbed me, picked me up, and threw me on the ground. My landing wasn't so great. "Shoot." I mumbled as I fell to the ground. "This is gonna be a long next few months."
