Chapters (4: final)

If our lives were books

and you were able to read them

would you toss some books you don't like?

if you were an author and didn't like one part of a book you wrote 

or a person you wrote in a book

would you erase them 

and skip every encounter you had with them?

So when you told me your life

and everyone's lives are like books

I poured all this out

Like a waterfall with no plans on stopping

But when I finished I was afraid you would hate me

and erased me from your book

for saying that I didn't want our lives to be like books because I didn't like books

because I didn't want to be just a chapter

a side character

in your book.

But instead 

you told me with your hand on my cheek

that without me

your book wouldn't exist

and would be just paper with ink together

instead of a wonderful story with emotions.

And as you left the book you were reading on the bench beside you and leaned in

I decided

maybe our book would be different then others

and that this wasn't really just your story but ours.
