The Story of Yamaha
A/N I've just been going through all of the stuff that I've written over the years. Well, I just thought why the hell don't I just post it all. I mean I just don't care at this point anymore. I wrote this story like 5 years ago and I had a longer version of it as one point, but I'm not sure what happened to it, so I'll just stick to posting this shorter (lamer) version.
Viola was an ordinary girl, or so she had thought. Ever since Viola was old enough to understand what an instrument and music was, her parents, Veronica and Joseph, forced music on her. They wanted her to be as good of a musician as they were, maybe even better. When Viola was five years old, her parents had her take her first lessons for the viola.
After 3 months of lessons on the viola, her instructor, Mr. Treble Clef, quit and became a librarian. He said to Veronica and Joseph that Viola was the worst musician he had ever met. He also said that he was quitting music because of her. Then he left as fast as he could.
Viola's parents didn't want to believe that their daughter was horrible at music. So, they kept forcing music on her. Viola had tried to play every single instrument by the time she was a sophomore in high school. Her parents had even had her try singing, but her voice was horrible. After trying everything to make her good at music, they gave up trying. They started to resent her. They lost all confidence in her. They gave up on her and believed she could do nothing.
Viola tried her best in school and everything else besides music to impress her parents. Nothing did! This made Viola really upset. Viola and her parents were never the same after this. Viola use to be so close with her parents, but after they found out she was horrible at music, they lost their closeness. They were never as close as they were before.
About a week after her parents lost all hope and confidence in her, she had a strange dream. In her dream she was having lunch with her favorite musicians, Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. She woke up right after the dream. When she woke up, she was on the piano in her soundproof practice room. Her practice room was connected to her room, so she could have easily sleepwalked to her piano. The weird thing though was that she was playing Beethoven's first symphony when she woke up. She had never been able to play an instrument before. After it was over, she just stared at the piano in amazement. Soon she snapped out of it. She looked at the clock and realized she overslept.
"I will have to worry about this later." Viola told herself. "If I don't hurry, I will be late for school."
Viola quickly rushed to get ready. She had practically ran to school. Once she got to school, she got her stuff and went to class as fast as she could go. She had made it to class on time.
All during school Viola thought about what had happened that morning. She had to tell someone. She decided that she would tell her closest and best friend, Claire Annette. She knew Claire could keep a secret and would be supportive.
After 8 period, Viola quickly went and found Claire. She had to tell her before she left. Viola found Claire at her locker about ready to go. Before Claire could even start to walk away, Viola grabbed her hand and dragged her to the bathroom. Claire was ok with this since she knew Viola would have a reason. Once Viola checked to make sure the bathroom was empty, she explained to Claire why she had brought her there. Viola told Claire what had happened over the past week, from the day her parents gave up on her to what had happened that morning.
Claire was very supportive. She had listened very intently to what Viola had said. She was amazed, surprised, and kind of mad all at the same time. Claire felt bad for Viola, but she was still surprised about what she had said happened that morning. She didn't know what to say.
After Claire didn't say anything for a couple of minutes, Viola told Claire to come over to her house and she would show her what happened. Claire agreed. Once Claire told her parents where she was going, they rushed to Viola's house. They got to Viola's house about 10 minutes later. They then went inside to her practice room. Viola locked the door behind them and sat down at the piano. Viola hoped that she could play. She was afraid that what happened earlier was a one-time thing. Her fear faded when she started playing Ode to Joy, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. She was overjoyed and kept playing until the piece was over.
Claire was amazed at what Viola was doing. She had known Viola almost since birth, and she had never been able to play this good before. There was something odd about her playing though. Claire felt a bit dazed and sleepy as Viola played. It was weird how Claire suddenly felt this way once Viola had started to play. Once Viola stopped playing, the feeling was gone again. Claire then disregarded the feelings and didn't think about them again for a while.
Viola had finished the piece. She then made Claire promised not to tell anyone, especially her parents. Viola was afraid her parents would force music on her again and then she wouldn't be able to play again. Viola was still happy though. She knew now that she and Claire could fulfill their dream of hopefully both going to Juilliard and graduate with PhDs in music.
They did accomplish their dream of going to Juilliard. They also achieved getting PhDs in music, just like they had wanted to. After the got their PhDs, they both became professional musicians and superhero on the side.
Viola had found out that she could play every instrument, but also that when she played, anyone who heard it would instantly become dazed and sleepy. People became instantly dazed and sleepy whenever she sang too. She also found out that she had super hearing. Viola could hear up to 194 decibels (dBs). Also, her hearing range was about a mile around. Viola could hear something that was up to a mile away.
Now Claire could use instruments as weapons (example: flutes as swords). She also was the only person who, after training her ears, never again got dazed or sleepy by Viola's singing voice or music. Claire trained herself to fight too.
Now that Viola and Claire knew what they could do, they decide to use their powers for good. Viola was going to be the superhero, Yamaha. Claire was Viola's sidekick, Suzuki.
Together they fought the forces of evil. They had an archenemy too. His name was Mute. His weapon was a silencer. The only problem, he seemed very familiar to Viola. She felt like she had met him before. This had sometimes distracted her while she was fight. It was one of her only weaknesses. She never figured out who he was or if they had ever met before.
Mute knew who Yamaha was, but only because he had taught her when he had been a music teacher. She was the reason why he hated sound and music. He had quit music because of her. He held that hate strongly in his heart forever. He was now a mean and strict librarian.
In the end, Yamaha and Suzuki (aka Viola and Claire) always beat Mute. They proved that good conquers evil. They also proved that nothing could stop the power of music.
