As keeps going on his straight path around the island he eventually runs into a beautiful sparrow.
"Do you know where the mermaid might be?", Devin asks the sparrow either delusional or not expecting an answer, but he gets one.
"SQUAWK...Go forward, when you hit a tree, turn to face the ocean, then walk straight into it, you should be able to find it...SQUAWK.", The sparrow squawks then gracefully flies off.
Devin, most likely being delusional from the heat, decides to follow the sparrow's instructions. Drunkenly walking until he comes upon the tree the sparrow mentioned. As Devin turns left towards the ocean he nearly falls over. He takes 3 big steps to reach the water, placing one foot in the ocean. The same slimy hand grabs his hand wrapping his ankle yanking Devin into the misty blue waters. Knowing what is supposed to happen Devin is less worried about being dragged 20 feet underwater but that doesn't keep his lungs from freaking out with no air. After a few minutes of no air, Devin passes out.
