Republishing this story since I forgot to add any updates for over a year (I forgot, sorry!!) and felt bad, so here it is again, with some minor edits ^^

I'm always open to some constructive criticism, so please leave any suggestions you see fit in the comments!

This story was written for an ELA assignment, but where's the harm in uploading it here? We were given a photo of a flower growing up through the cracks in some concrete, and a prompt: Overcoming Adversity.

The flower, despite the obvious challenges, pushed its way through and we were left with something beautiful. This is what the story is about.

Written about one of my original characters, James, but inspired by a true story (minus the flower part) about my late friend. I wrote this to spread awareness about suicide and how, despite how hard things are, it will get better. Everyone has challenges in their lives, but just like the flower, you can make it through eventually. Nobody should feel ashamed to ask for help, and everybody deserves someone loving and understanding in their life. Just know, there is help.
