____Sometimes, in life, there are moments when time itself stops and you are frozen in that exact moment in time. Well... this was one of those moments...
..~..
I cannot believe who stands in front of me...
..~..
Looking up, the sweet, innocent eyes of a young girl smiles sweetly at me. She seems to be surrounded by a warm haze of golden sunlight. My hearts melts and I giggle nervously at the pretty sight.
Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, a hand flies towards me. I clutch my cheek in agony as the golden haze fades and a beautiful stern face replaces the innocent girl.
I blink twice, not believing the audacity this woman must have to outright slap me.
"Jesus Christ! What did you do that for?"
"That'll teach you to keep your eyes to yourself."
"I'm sorry but... I just wasn't expecting...you."
"Oh yes, the weak girl who can't fiend for herself. Well... maybe... i'm not so sweet and innocent."
"Certainly not." I mumble.
She shakes her head and begins to walk away, leaving me laying, helpless on the grass.
"Wait!" I shout, praying, wishing that she'll turn around and at least help me get to my feet.
Still, she just keeps on walking and I know that there is nothing I can do to get her to come back.
I get to work on lifting myself up, so I am sitting, my back against a nearby birch tree. I dig my hands into the dirt and grit my teeth, slowly but surely manoeuvring my legs into an upright position.
As soon as I feel I am fully balanced, I try and stand up, always keeping the birch tree by my side, in case I need any further assistance.
I close my eyes, finally taking in all that has happened, when...
"Holy shit! Oh no no NO! This is not happening."
I scratch my head, trying to think of ways to fix this, to get back on track so I can kill who I need to kill. After all, that is the reason I am here in the first place.
Almost as if it were planned, a long stick, the perfect length to balance on, lay next to me. I immediately grab it and use it to stand up. I finally get a chance to examine my injury and realise if I don't clean and cover it up, it could become infected which would certainly not help anything.
I hobble down to a nearby stream and try my best to clean it as much as possible.
Every drop of water feels like a ball of fire thrown at the wound. Even though the pain is excrutiating, I know I have to try my best to put it to the back of my mind so as not to attract any unwanted attention. I use a strip of my bloody trousers to wrap around it and begin to navigate my way back to the road.
Cars zoom past, leaving a trail of deadly wind in their wake, strong enough to lift a man into the air and deposit him back onto the road and in the way of the cars themselves.
With this knowledge in mind, I put my arm out, desperately trying to find a driver who is willing to help a stranger out.
1 hour, 2 hours, 3, 4. Its dark and the cars now travel with blinding headlights. I know that there is no point trying to get a ride back.
I limp back into the safety of the bushes and search my pockets, praying that there is anything slightly helpful that could give me an idea of the time, my whereabouts or how far away I am to my destination.
I dig deep and pull out a pink elf bar, its metal plating reflecting the moonlight onto the grass in front of me. I shiver, realising that if I can't catch a ride somewhere else, I will just have to make do with the accompaniment of my beloved birch tree.
Suddenly, a light bulb lights up in my mind, I hold the elf bar towards the sky, aiming at the ground. Patiently, I hold it still till soot begins to build from the heat/radiation of the moonlight. I grin from the corners of my mouth, wrinkles forming on my forehead and at the sides of my eyelids.
"Aha! Fuck you cloak girl!" I shout at the top of my lungs, "look, look!" I point towards the elf bar, frantically jumping up and down, "I don't need your help to survive, I'm the fucking king of survival! Haha!"BANG!
A blade swooshes past my ear, slicing into the birch tree, missing the side of my scalp by half an inch. I swing around to see my attacker.
I meet her gaze, her eyes two fireballs, burning with rage and annoyance. I gulp.
"Uhm, f-f-fancy seeing you here." I smile nervously, trying to desperately break the eye contact. She continues to stare deep into my soul, almost as if she can see every secret I've ever told or kept just by looking into my eyes.
"Come." The eye contact breaks as she pivots on her heel and strides off into the woods, leaving me to scurry along behind her.
"Why did you come back, where are you taking me?"
She continues walking.
"All will be revealed."
I shiver yet again and rub my arms, hoping to warm up my bare skin. I look up and reach out just in time to catch a black cloak, hurled to me by the mysterious 'female' saviour.
"No need to thank me," she says, flicking her hair over her shoulder and slightly quickening her pace.
"Urm... thanks?!" I shrug, wrapping the insanely soft material around my shoulders. As we round the corner, bright lights shine from a cabin in the distance. I shield my view as the sudden burst of artificial light sends waves of urgency through my nerves, forcing me to stumble backwards, wary of a sudden attack.
My mysterious saviour grabs my shoulders, looking concerningly at me, wondering what on earth I am doing. I smile shyly, hit by her incredible beauty. She slaps my face yet again, grumbling to herself.
"Fucking idiot, gonna get himself killed."
I fall onto my arse, surprised by the act of violence I had just experienced.Soon, the initial shock is worn of, my eyes are now adjusted and my face is now a more normal shade of pink. My saviour holds her hand out, I clutch into it. She hauls me up and onto my own two feet, allowing me to gain balance.
We walk side by side for only a few more minutes before reaching our destination. As she pushes the door open, I cannot believe the sight that fills my vision...__________________
