By the time dinner was over, the napkin had already run through everyone's hands and had sauce stains and greasy prints on the edges. The note was ruined and Sugawara didn't want to leave a disgusting love note to his crush. Eventually Asahi, Daichi and Oriana stopped laughing and left the napkin at Sugawara's side. That didn't mean they wouldn't pull a line they read once a while just for the jokes.
Tanaka peeked at one of the windows. The night had completely settled and the streets were lightened by the moonlight.
"The moon sure is lovely in the north." he commented.
"But never as lovely as Rebecca." Tsukishima added.
"Will you cut it out?" Sugawara shouted from the other side of the table.
He was no longer blushing and all that was left was a bilious expression. They would have to try another time. Before they noticed, their plates were being retrieved and it was time to pay the bill and leave. With the help of a colleague, Rebecca, the red haired waitress Sugawara had a massive crush on, was gently collecting the dishes. She eventually grabbed hold of the napkin. The sweat on Sugawara's face was visible from a mile away. Even Oriana was at the edge of her seat.
"What is this?" Rebecca asked with the sweetest voice. "It has my name on it."
Oriana's wide open eyes stared at Sugawara as in encouraging him to do something about it, but he froze in his chair. While Rebecca read the note silently, her cheeks turned pink and then red. She looked surprised and coy, but more than that, it was like she actually liked the note.
"Can-Can I ask who wrote it?"
Sugawara was still in his panic daze, so Oriana kicked his leg under the table. The boy jumped as he stated loudly,
"Me! I wrote it!"
"I would love to read more of your notes." she admitted, her mellow voice left Sugawara with a flush over his cheeks. "My shift is basically over. Do you want to drink coffee with me before I go home?"
"As long as you hold my hand."
Suddenly, Sugawara had a charming smile on his face and the nervousness left him.
Just like that, he got a date and left everyone baffled.
As soon as her shift was over, Sugawara rushed everyone outside to the cold night. Probably so they would witness him successfully holding the hand of his crush he was so nervous about only a few minutes ago.
"How?" Narita asked.
"Was it all part of his technique?" Asahi wondered as he scratched his chin..
"Technique for what?" Hinata asked with an innocent tone.
"You have no idea of what happened, do you?" Tanaka asked and promptly the youngest shook his head.
"This is so unfair, how does he do it?" Nishinoya shouted in frustration. "Oriana," he suddenly turned to her. "That cool-masked jerk is your boyfriend, right? How did he do it? How did he charm you? Was he cool? Was he direct? Tell me!" at every question, he leaned towards Oriana just a little more. Even though he was on his tiptoes at a certain point, he still didn't reach Oriana's height, but his aura was menacing and chaotic.
Meanwhile, she had no response for him and lifted her palm to him in order to keep some distance. Even when she tried to say something, Nishinoya only pressured her even more for answers. There was no space to reflect.
"So?"
"Uhm, team work?" she blabbered.
This only made Nishinoya more frustrated, but at least he backed off from her.
