Camila hides behind a bush, her elbows stuck in the dirt of the hard ground. Her stomach lay flat, she remained in the army crawl position. She tried to stay quiet, peaking through the leaves although at times she would wince and wiggle away from the rocks that were jabbing into her ribs and abdomen. She knew she was being too noisy, but the sound of the night was louder.
She was fifteen years old, a freshman in high school. And she couldn't believe herself right now. Hiding behind a bush to spy on teenagers making out on a hill. Okay, no, it wasn't just any teenager.
That's right, she told herself. She's here for a reason. It's like she's on a secret mission, and she's James Bond. Camila giggled to herself, before peaking over the bush to get a good look at her target. Two teenagers sit in the car, now recognizable to Camila, as Y/n and Lance. Lance! Of all people, why in the world would she pick him! She thought to herself.
She could almost make out their conversation, but it was becoming difficult to hear behind the bush. Camila begun army crawling again, although, she wasn't very good at it. She looks more like a newborn worm than a soldier.
"Cabello, Camila Cabello." Camila whispered to herself before giggling again. Then she got scared she was making too much noise and was gonna get caught. But somehow, she managed to get to the other side of the parking lot to hide behind yet another bush. And she could now hear them crystal clear.
"I don't know, Lance. I'm not really that kind of girl." That was Y/n. But what did she mean?
"Come on, it'll be quick. I mean, all teenagers do that here."
Camila looked through the leaves and twigs at Y/n. A parade of doubt glistened in her shining eyes, her face down with worry. She looked uncomfortable, looking away from the boy next to her. Her face was illuminated by the moon. Beautiful.
"Y/n, you look so beautiful in the moonlight." Lance cupped Y/n's cheek and stared into her eyes.
Damn you. Camila cursed.
"I don't know, I don't think I can." Y/n removed his hand from her cheek and turned away, covering herself with her arms.
"But everybody knows you're easy." Lance said.
Camila's eyes widened and her vision became flushed with great maroon clouds, her face burning. She was so mad, she couldn't hear the rest of the conversation. All she could see was Lance's blood all over her hands from such a simple sentence.
But she got snapped out of reality when Y/n passed her. She shook her head and looked to where she was going. She didn't even notice Camila, but it seemed her eyes were filled with tears. Camila did a double take, looking between Lance and her.
"Come on, Y/n! Don't act like you didn't know! Aw, shit." Y/n ignored his calls and continued walking down the hill.
Wait. Camila thought. Y/n doesn't have a car.
"Shit," Camila got up, disregarding the hidden cover she had from Lance. She watched as Y/n began walking to the street. She was going to walk home, seriously? Does this girl ever regard safety? Camila shook her head.
She jogged to her mom's minivan that she stole for the night. Yes, fifteen years old and driving alone. That was the most rebellious thing Camila thinks she has ever done, and if she got caught her life would be over.
But that didn't matter right now. All that mattered was that she needed to make sure that Y/n was okay.
Camila put the car in reverse and started backing out of her parking space that was on the other side of the hill. She put the car back into drive and started driving.
