CHAPTER 4
NASIA drops onto the floor after disappearing into thin air. That was the worst ride of her life. They were rolling upside down, she now worries about vomiting in front of these renowned people. "Headmistress Mildred, I am sorry for the intrusion..." The lady looks at Nasia and nudges her forward, her knees almost slapping against the hardwood table. "But, this young witch claims she has been given admission to the school. That is preposterous because she has no magic powers at all!"
Nasia lowers her head even more. The lady's words keep on hammering her smaller, down to the ground. Her heart breaks even more at the lady's harsh words. Preposterous, it is. How can a witch not even have magic? She's taken out of her thoughts by a kind voice and soft, gentle hands cupping her chin upwards. "I admitted her, Lady Annette. She has shown---" Her breathing stops as she awaits the headmistress' words. "---quite a bit of potential, and so I admitted her. Why is there anything wrong?"
The lady gapes at the headmistress and looks at her. She looks away and shrinks in her place. The scrutinizing gaze from the lady scares her. "Headmistress Mildred. A bit of potential? We already have a lot of students with great potential, as the ones we recently admitted too. But, her!" The lady points to Nasia who stares at her, wide eyed. "She's incompetent and a baggage in this institution without her magic!"
"Lady Annette. I understand your concern. But my decision is final." The headmistress turns away from them. The lady marches out of the room and she stays, hesitating to move. She has no idea where this room is and how she got there. She definitely has no idea where to go from this room, either! "Nasia, you're still here."
She jumps at the sudden interruption. "I'm sorry. I don't know where to go from here." She looks at the humongous door and back to the headmistress.
"You will find only one staircase spiraling down and a maroon door at the very bottom. That is the entryway to the lobby from here. And from there you can get to your room."
Nasia bows at her and leaves the room in a hurry. She reaches the long winding staircase and steps carefully. The darkness of the area terrifies her. Her careful steps turn frantic after she hears a hissing sound from somewhere. Reaching the bottom step, she reaches for the door handle and opens it. Noisy chatter washes over her as she sees students in the lobby.

She gawks at the elegance of the room. The intricate details weaved into the walls of the room, the richness of every paint color used and the faces of the students in the room. They all carry themselves gracefully, something she's not familiar doing. She walks up to the bulletin at the right side of the room. Papers of different sizes and colors are plastered. But all of them were announcements from the past school year.
Turning her back on the bulletin board, she walks ahead in search of her room. She visits the other side of the lobby but it is too dark, so she retreats. She eyes the huge staircase leading up to somewhere. Loud and bothersome voices behind her laughs and two girls walk in front of her. "Well, if it isn't the witch without magic." The girl crosses her arms and raises her brows at Nasia.
It's her. The girl at the exams. She never understood why this girl dislikes her. They got along together really well. Is it because she doesn't have magic? "Hi." he tries to be as friendly as she can. How long will she keep up this meek girl act?
"You don't belong here, witch. I don't know why you got in. But, I'll make sure your stay here is unpleasant." The girl walks away with her friend who never glanced her way. It's nothing new, she tells herself.
