I think that's it

I woke up on a bright Saturday morning, tired from the crazy events that happened the night before. My phone buzzed on the nightstand next to me, and I picked it up to look at the messages.

Keith: Hey, you forgot your hairbrush at the mall yesterday. It's at my house now if you want to come pick it up :P

Wait what? I didn't remember having a hairbrush last night. It must have fallen out of my bag during that rap battle at the mall.

I sighed before getting out of bed, and quickly got dressed. I shut the door behind me and got into my car. Luckily Keith's house wasn't too far from my little apartment, so it would be easy for me to pick the hairbrush up.

Stepping out of my car, I skipped up the driveway and knocked on Keith's door. The door opened, and he stood there with my hairbrush in his hand.

"Beep bop skidoop," said Keith. I looked at him with a puzzled face.

"Just kidding, how are you y/n?" he said, smiling.

"Oh... I'm good. Just a little tired," I said. I extended my arm and held out my hand as he gave me the hairbrush.

"Hey, do you wanna come in for a second? I have a little time," he said.

I nodded, and walked in to his house. I had been there many times before, considering that he was my closest friend. I sat down on one of the fancy leather couches in the main room.

He sat down next to me and sighed. "Are you okay?" I asked.

"Well, yea. You know my girlfriend, right?"

"Mhmm, the girl with the red dress from last night."

"Actually," he said, "she's not actually my girlfriend. I mean, we're still friends and all... but we've kind of been acting it for a little while. Yet I still have to keep battling her parents- I still have to win this. But can you believe that I got friendzoned again!?"

He looked down with a sad expression, and I patted his back. "It's gonna be fine, you'll find someone else soon. At least you guys are still friends."

I sighed and stood up, about to leave. I thought about how I had liked Keith for so many years, and how he would never like me back.

"Wait," he said, and I stopped abruptly. I turned around and looked at his pretty blue hair. "Actually, if you don't mind, do you want to like... uh..."

My heart was racing as he stumbled over his words. My face had to be so hot that someone could roast a marshmallow over it.

"...maybe go on a date?" Keith said. I looked at him, and he looked at me. I noticed a blush forming on his cheeks.

All of a sudden, he wrapped his arms around my neck, kissing me as he did. We stayed like that for a good 30 seconds before he pulled away from me. We both were blushing and then I started giggling uncontrollably. He started laughing as well, and we laughed for a little while.

"Ah, yes, I would like to go on a date with you sometime, Keith."

"I'm... uh, sorry about that," he said, smiling and scratching the back of his neck.

"Why are you sorry?" I asked. "I actually really liked that."

He smiled. "Wanna know a secret? I took the hairbrush from your bag just so I could talk to you."

I started laughing. "I can't believe you did that!"

After talking a little more, Keith waved goodbye as I got into my car. I smiled and thought about him for the whole rest of the day.
