Looking for the Perfect Dress.
"A true diamond allows a curvy bent reflection whilst the fake one reflects outwardly." - Fact.
I am married - my gorgeous most expensive silver diamond ring promises me me so. My brown hands overlaps the right hand, the marriage finger, feeling it’s intense and authenticity of it’s realness; a true diamond allows a curvy bent reflection whilst the fake one reflects outwardly. My heart remained contented - and forced a grateful smile across my covered-in-face-mask face. I remember the cucumbers were not here yet. My maid, Dana seems to be taking her time. Someone barged in the living room - of course, it was her - a woman who’s pretty much the same age as me, in her early thirties, however looks like a very old woman. it’s because of her weight, I know 220Ibs is not a healthy figure
“Sorry dear, I stumbled upon something and had to clean up.” She said shyly and apologetically. Her face reflects sorrow, and lack of confidence. I am very merciful towards her. I gave her her own apartment Just across my Third-Story house, pay for her rent, her food, and of course a pool, and top of that she gets a mighty high salary. “It’s okay, Just give me the cucumbers Dana.” I demanded from her. “Today, I will be going out to look for the perfect wedding dress so I would love for you to babysit Poochy for me. Perhaps take her out for a walk, or make her do some fun cat activities.” I saw a glimpse of her face through the corner of my eyes nodding. I laid back, whilst my maid went out through the door. I decided to pop in my headphones and listen to some calm music. My soon-to-be husband, Tariq would be totally upset with me since he’s technically a good muslim now - not listening to music, no more partying or smoking but only giving his ear to the guidance and beauty of the Qur’an.
His character has changed even more beautifully over the years of us being together ; his physical appearance remain intact and makes me feel more fallen towards him, every time we lay eyes with each other - I’m totally in love with this man. I feel the strong connection with him more than any other guy I’ve been with. The way he charms me, flirts with me, takes care of my shopping, and every dinner date - the way he pulls the chair out for me even though he knew me for how long - which man does that nowadays? He has a good heart and good looks - perfect man for me - a sincere gift from Allah to me, alhamdulilah.
After calling up my girls, Eve and Fathima, we decided to drive to London Bridge, where they sell the most expensive and valuable dresses.
My heart was racing in positive excitement; I can feel the blush on my face embracing itself, allowing me to look even more prettier in my make-up I believe.
Then straight after we went into the Bridal Store. My friends quickly took their seat and I was on centre stage. We greeted Lailah - the Manager of the Company and she introduced us to potential suiterers like Trisha and Mariam.
“How about the dress with pink floral prints dear?” One of them suggested to me with a bright face and enthusiastic eyes. “I like blue..it’s calm. If you have that then hell yeah.”
“Okay, sure.”
Every dress that I wore, were easily rejected and then I realise I wasn’t totally happy. I keep thinking about Tariq and his overly religious ambition. Don’t get me wrong,I would love to become more closer with Allah s.w.t and he can definitely bring me towards that, but his anger management - that’s one thing he kept. One day he would treat me like this most beautiful and amazing Queen and the next he treats me like complete and utter dirt - leaving me, ignoring me all day or even for a month that I worry so much about his existence. He seems to be a leaver.
I sat on the floor crying, I don’t know what I want anymore. My friends came to give me some reassurance. Babe, it’s okay. We can always look somewhere else. Or all the dresses seem to suit you. An Idea popped up in my mind, I should get something extremely expensive and valuable - that would cheer me up - something like a wedding dress made out of gold. "Are you subhaanAllah, serious Mariam?”, Fathima said to me in utter shock.
Her face all smothered in excess make-up; foundation, blusher, fake eye lashes, and a beauty spot she created on the left side of her cheek. “SubhaanAllah, that’s ridiculous. You would have to give awayall your money for that. Take it easy honey.” I pouted. “I deserve it though. I will do anything to make me happy.” Eve shooked her head and Fatima looked angry and upset. “I don’t understand you sometime. Why are you becoming so greedy? Just because you have the money doesn’t mean you spend extravagantly.” "i totally agree with Fathima.” Eve said. “I know, I know it seems extravegant, but shopping is my favourite thing, and when it comes to my wedding, I want it to be fucking awesome - a memory that Ii’d never forget.” My hands folded, and voice came out bold. People were looking.
“You know what, do whatever you want - you don’t seem to be listening Mariam.” Eve said. “Let her do whatever she wants then, there are people dying across Africa and Asia and all she worries about is an expensive wedding.” What they said hit hard against my chest because it was the truth. But my heart wasn’t soft enough to except or expect less. I have to be strong and know that at least, i’m doing Africa and Asia a favour by using my wealth to be happy - something they have limited access to do.”
My iPhone vibrated from my purse decorated in real diamond and pearls. It opened with a bare click,
and i answered the phone. It was Tariq. “Hey babe.." I immediately blush and felt like a princess, my heart became happy again. “Oh hii honey..” I responded. There was silence.
“Asalamu’Alaiykum I meant..” Him remembering to be religious again. “Wa Alaiykum salam..”
“Where are you? I want to see you. I missed you.” He said boldly making my cheeks pink and blushing like crazy. I forget about all the horrible things I’ve been using to doubt him. It’s now completely gone out the door. “Baby, you know we can’t see each other until the wedding right?” I said trying to suppress the urge to giggle in excitement to how he misses me.
“Ah man, can we Just see each other one last time, today?”He asked pitifully. I missed him so much, but I’m this most obedient person in the world, i like to surprise him - i was thinking. Before i could say anything, I saw that my friend Fathima wrote something on a piece of paper, “Do whatever that makes your heart happy.” A bunch of hypocrites much - my thought went on then a smile fell across my face once more to those words. I gave her a thumbs up. “Okay, we’ll see each other today…In shaa Allah.” He said to meet him at Finsbury Park - the Park where we first met. I was thrilled.
“So you are gonna meet him today even though it’s like..forbidden?” Eve asked and I nodded enthusiastically. They know I don’t always follow the rules. “Well, remember to not tell him that you will be using his money to buy the most expensive wedding dress in the world.” Eve said and we laughed.
“Yes, because that guy has changed Mariam, he’s more religious so be careful. Let’s have something to eat before you head off to your lover.” Fathima added.
