"It doesn't matter, Louis."
"El, I like you... at least I did," he paused. "Just tell me if I was falling for an entire lie."
"Louis," she sighed, "you can't be with me. I shouldn't be with you. You deserve somebody who you can trust.."
"You confessed yourself, Eleanor. I didn't ask today, I came to say sorry, you went on and on about it," Louis held her chin up when she tried to look away. "I can't trust you now, but it's not like you're not guilty."
"I...I..." Eleanor was actually at a loss of words. She literally told Louis everything, as much as he needed to know, she didn't really know why. She felt like he deserved to. But why?- she kept thinking.
"C'mon Calder, you always have an answer," Louis smirked.
"Louis, I like you," she admitted. "Maybe, that's why." She meekly looked into his eyes and his smirk had somewhat turned into a knowing smile.
"I knew there's something wrong with you, but I ignored it because I wanted to believe you. But, I may be a nice person but sometimes the best of liars can give a little away. That's why, I checked your closet, curiosity and also, I love being right."
Eleanor turned away, she couldn't believe she might've let herself out.
"But I hate it this time," he said and she shot him a confused look.
"Don't look at me like that," he said. "I wished I wasn't right this time. I wished you did nothing. I wished I could bring Liam to justice. I wished I didn't have a reason to arrest you."
Eleanor's shoulders tensed at that. She could feel her back shivering and honestly, she felt stupid.
"But," he spoke again, "I have no reason to arrest you."
"But... you..."
"I can't do anything until I can prove what happened to Liam. And you won't tell me where you dumped him."
Eleanor flinched at the last bit. Covering up a murder and hiding the body, twice, was not the actions she was proudest of.
"I've been hearing this a lot while on this case, El," his smirk was back. "No body, no crime."
Eleanor's eyes widened. She kept staring at him because what he said was completely out of the blue. As far as she knew, Louis was a cop that went by the book. This was.. different... good different for her.. but shocking.
"You're actually right," she composed herself.
"I usually am," he gave her a knowing look.
"Doesn't change the fact that we shouldn't be together," Eleanor reminded him.
"I know," he neared her.
"That'd never work," she also slid closer.
"Never," he said as he felt her filling the space between his thighs with her bent knees.
"End up completely messy," she whispered into his ear.
"So messy," he whispered back, his voice raspy and deep as he kissed down her jaw. He pulled her by the waist and descended his mouth to her neck. He kissed it once before nibbling there. He sucked a mark and she groaned a little.
Eleanor tried unbuckling his belt but kept slipping. Louis silently laughed at her poor attempts but decided to help her by removing his belt and holster. His hands rose under her t-shirt and rubbed her sides.
"Lou," she whined. "Not here again."
"Okay," he wrapped his arms round her waist and got off the couch, carrying her in his arms. She quickly put her legs round his waist.
