"Derek.. is dead." Amelia said just above a whisper. Arizona just nodded and held her arms out and the neurosurgeon wasted no time to fall into them. "Derek is dead." She repeated, unable to move. Unable to think. Unable to cry.
"He's gone, Arizona. I will never see him again. I didn't get to say goodbye." The brunettes voice cracked at the end and she broke out into a full on sob. She couldn't believe her big brother was dead. It didn't feel real.
"Amelia?" Arizona whispered, tightening her grip around the tiny girl. "I have you."
Those three words were everything to the neurosurgeon. No one ever 'had her'. She never had anyone to look out for her. Someone she could tell anything to, free of judgement. Not even Derek.
Being Arizona's friend was all that was keeping Amelia sober. She knew it was bad to rely on another person, but she didn't care. Arizona was dependable, funny, sweet, and she always knew exactly what to say to get Amelia through a bad day. Of course, Arizona had her bad days too, and Amelia was always there for her. But right now she needed Arizona more than anyone else. Those blue eyes were all she wanted to see.
"Zona?"
"Yeah?" The blonde says, kissing Amelia's cheek and holding her tightly.
"Never leave."
