fourteen: so close

CHAPTER 14

you look at karen in confusion, not knowing what to say or do. 

"what do you mean?"

"you know what i mean bitch. he's mine so you better back off."

"uh me and sykkuno are just friends..."

karen huffs back in response.

rae watches this all go down and goes up to you, "come on, let's go kaylin. just ignore her" as she pulls you away from this rude stranger.

"well it was nice meeting you!" you say with and awkward smile as karen rolls her eyes and as rae shoots her death glares. 

sykkuno's pov

hm time to find toast and scarra. i walk all around the OTV house to find Toast in the front with Poki and Lily greeting some guests. 

"hey toast!" i say with my eyes beaming.

"hey."

"where's my hey sykkuno?" "and mine?" poki and lily interrupt.

"h-hey guys..." i say before laugh awkwardly. "anyways... toast can i talk to you?"

"eh sure why not?" he says stepping to the side as the girls try to eavesdrop in.

"ehm... alone? please?"

lily and poki groan and roll their eyes before going back to greeting guests.

toast and i walk into my old room in the house, aka the current guest room. still looks pretty much the same though.

"so sykkuno. what's up?"

"how do i talk to kaylin?"

"huh?? weren't you just talking to her a second ago?"

"i mean... how do i tell her how i really feel?" i look down out of nervousness and hear toast sigh.

"all you have to do is talk to her alone. as in no distractions."

"mhm mhm, but where is the question..." i ask, putting my finger on my chin in a thinking motion.

"i say, you just bring her here," pointing at my old room. ah so many memories.

"i guess i could... and then what?"

"then... you tell her how you feel"

"just like that?"

"just like that."

i take a few calming breaths, with my hand on my chest as my tense shoulders rise and then fall.

we walk out the room to find kaylin, who is standing in the living room with rae and a few others. 

kayluna's pov

"oh h-hey kaylin"

"hi sykkunie! what's up?"

"uh nothing uh is it okay if uh-"

toast interrupts, "sykkuno wants to show you around the OTV house since he used to live here before"

"oh cool yeah i'll go! come on rae" you say nudging her.

"no no kaylin i've already been here multiple times besides i have to talk to toast about uhh... streaming!"

"streaming, really? that's the best you came up with?"

"yup! now go," rae says as she pushing me towards sykkuno, shooing me away. you look at her in confusion and curiosity. what are they up to?

 we walk around together as he awkwardly shows you around.

"this is the living room... uhh this is the kitchen..." 

you laugh in response. "why are you showing me all the places we already went to?"

"oh i-"

"you're fine don't worry about it." distracted, you look at a hallway with two rooms across from each other, "oo whose rooms are those?"

"this one is poki's"

"oo her room is pretty i like the lights"

"and this one used to be mine," he says as he opens the door for me. we walk inside and look around. even though he doesn't live here anymore, it's still his unofficial official room.

you sit on his bed, "sorry this seat is also for my best friend,"

he gives a slight smile, remembering the conversation in the kitchen and sits down next to you.

you two talk a little bit, making jokes here and there, until at one moment. our eyes meet.

it gets quiet for a few moments. is this it? is he going to tell me if he likes me? should i tell him how i feel right now?

"kaylin?"

"sykkuno?"

you look at him as he nervously puts his hand behind his neck. he looks at you and you two stare deeply into each others' eyes, coming closer and closer. your heart is beating loud, but you don't want it to stop. you see as he glances from your eyes to your lips and you do the same. it feels like the time at the beach, where you were so close that you can hear his heartbeat beating at the same pace as yours. you feel your face getting hot as you both start to lean in. right before your lips began to meet, you hear the door knob rattle as a person comes in. you two both jerk back in response, faces red hot from the tension.

"oh hey poki" you say with an awkward smile and a flushed face.

"hey you guys... did i interrupt something?"

"uh nope you're good!"

"oh well sykkuno, someone's calling you, asking about something i don't know"

"oh okay, i'll be back kaylin," staring into your eyes with a soft smile. he then whispers, "maybe we'll finish off what we started," causing your face to become hot and tinted. 

before they leave, poki looks at you, mouthing the word "SUS" and telling you to text her what happened later. 

so. close.
