"Drew?"
Drew turned around at the familiar voice. Willow! Willow was Samantha's freshman year roommate. She had come home for thanksgiving break.
"Willow." She said in relief. Her whole body relaxed, and she slumped slightly. Her breathing controlled. Willow would definitely know where Sammy was.
"Do you know where Sammy is?" She asked.
"You don't know?" Willow asked.
"Know what?" Drew replied, furrowing her brows.
"She dropped out."
-------------------------------------------------
Drew sat in her car. She was sweating bullets despite the chilly air. Willow's words rang in her head. Samantha hadn't come back that year. Willow had tried to talked to her, but Samantha had found a whole new posse of friends. She found a boyfriend. She had been acting different. The whole summer she had disappeared, and then came back on the first day of school just to unenroll. Apparently she supposedly transferred to another college to follow her boyfriend. It was a small town one, deeper in the suburban area of the state. Willow had given her the address.
Drew wasn't afraid anymore, now she was just confused. You don't speak to a person for a year and all of a sudden they make these drastic decisions. Of course. Drew was going to have to a good talk with her sister. She was infuriated. You can't just move and tell your family. "Our poor mother." She muttered out loud as she started the car. "Has to deal with all her bullshit." She rolled her eyes. Drew anger was boiling as she drove. How could her sister be so irresponsible. Make such big decisions to follow some guy. She was so in her thoughts, she didn't even notice as the suburban area turn into thick woods.
"You have reached your destination." The GPS alerted her. She stared in front of her. There was no school. No, there was literally nothing in front of her. She grabbed her phone and stared at the map.
"There is supposed to be a school here" She spoke out loud to herself. She parked at the side of the road and got out. There was a small dirt road that started at the side. The trees were large and the leaves blocked any view of what was past it. She zoomed in on the map. The icon indicated that it was somewhere in the middle of the woods. That makes no sense. Shouldn't there be at least a road leading up to it? There should be sign somewhere. She stared at her car, anxious. I can't just leave it here. She bit her lip, unsure what to do. Maybe I could just walk a little, maybe I will find the entrance. Drew knew she was being insanely stupid, but she was running out of options. What if there is really nothing here? Where was Samantha?
She sighed and walked following the path. The path got narrower, the more she walked. The branches scratched her legs, ripping through her skin. She cursed out loud at the deep gnash on her leg. She whimpered, but kept on walking.
Her eyes widened. Finally she spotted something. There through the thick bushes was a man. He was standing there. Like literally he was just standing there.
"Umm" She spoke to him. Wait he could like be a murderer or something. She realized, but it was too late his attention already snapped to her. His eyes widened as he saw her.
"Luna." He said startled.
"Ugh. What." She trailed. "My name is Drew." What the heck is wrong with this guy.
"Wait! Does this Luna person look like me? Except she has blonde hair." Drew asked gesturing to her hair. He just stared at her in shock, and then nodded slowly. Did Sammy change her name or something? "Oh! That's my sister!!" She said relief washing through her. She walked towards him. Maybe he is a student. She thought.
"So on the map it told me the campus was here. Do you know where the entrance is?"She asked, showing him her phone. He just stared at her. Blinking a couple times, as if to finally process what was happening.
"I'll take you to Samantha." He spoke finally. "Follow me." With that he started to walk. He was a lot taller than she was, so in a couple seconds he had already travelled a few feet. Drew was a hundred percent sure following a stranger in the woods was not a good idea, but she was sure he knew her sister since the second time he had called her Samantha.
"Why'd you call her Luna?" Drew called from behind him. She was struggling to catch up with his strides. He turned back to her.
"Just a nickname." He said with a small laugh.
"What..." Drew trailed. That doesn't make sense at all. She was about to ask another question as they approached the clearing. She stopped in her tracks. It was a huge building. She figured it could at least be a hundred feet tall.
"Wait.." She turned her head to the path she had followed, furrowing her brows. "Wouldn't I have been able to seen that from the road?"
She wasn't sure if the stranger heard her or not, but he continued on. As they reached the building, she couldn't help but marvel at it. It had huge granite pillars. Sone walls, with ivy crawling up. Arched windows on each panel. She stood her mouth gaping. The grand wooden door had small craving of embellishments. It opened.
"I'm going to kill you." Drew stated.
