I checked my face in my phone camera to make sure that it didn't look like I'd been bawling my eyes out before taking a deep breath and stepping out into the hall.

I didn't see anyone around, and assumed they were probably all out at lunch already, but as soon as I got to the bottom step I saw a see of teens.

"Sayo! Come on, we're just waiting on you and Deku!"

I stepped down the last steps to meet a grinning Denki. "Do you guys all walk to lunch together all the time?"

His already blinding grin manages to widen. "Not usually, but Prez wanted us to all sit together and wait for you and Shinso! Unless you want to sit with your old friends?"

I blink. "My old... oh! Yeah, no, I'd like to sit with you guys. Usually, I kinda sit alone anyways."

His grin dampens a bit and melts into a curious expression, but before he can ask whatever question is coming next Midorya appears at the foot of the stairs. "I'm so sorry! I got caught up taking notes and forgot about lunch completely! Is everybody here?"

The blue-haired class president nods and does his strange arm thing. "Yes! We can all go now!"

Bakugo scoffs. "Finally. Damn extras took forever!"

Kirishima grins at Bakugo as the class parades out the dorm door. "Awe, we love you too, Bakubro!"

The angry blonde snorts and shakes him off, but for a second I thought he was blushing. Must've been the lighting.

The class heads off to the main building, for the most part all grins and laughter. They were like a crazy family, and I couldn't help but idly wonder how they were all so much closer than 1E. Even the less sociable students like Bakugo, Todoroki, and Takoyami were surrounded by their classmates and their bright smiles. I couldn't help but smile along.

I think I'm going to like this class, even if it takes some time to adjust to the chaos.

On the way down screamin'

Woah

If all we have is time, then we'll be alright

Woah

It's not much, but it's better than nothing

Woah

We're running on fumes, but we'll make it through the night

Once we got to the lunchroom, we all sat down at an empty table. I ended up sitting between Shinso and Midorya, which kind of freaked me out. Two of the most intimidating kids here, but y'know.

Midorya immediately turned to me with a smile to rival Denki's. "What's your quirk Sayo? I hope you don't mind me asking, but taking notes on quirks is a sort of hobby of mine."

I blinked. "I uh -"

Uraka sighed. "Deku, are you seriously going to interrogate her? It's her first day, she probably wants to eat her lunch."

Midorya let out a small sigh. "Ah- true. Sorry, Sayo."

Uraka smiled at me and Shinso across the table. "How's our class so far, guys? Besides Mineta, I mean."

I smiled a bit. "Everyone's been super nice. It's kind of awesome how close and welcoming you guys are."

Shinso nodded. "It's strange."

Midorya blinked. "Huh. I guess we've bonded a lot over time, especially with all the villain attacks and whatnot. I remember thinking that 1A is super different than my old school. Which reminds me, which class were you in? I know Shinso was in 1C."

"I was in 1E, General Studies. I was super surprised when I heard that they'd moved me all the way up to 1A. You guys are supposed to be the best of the best. Watching you guys fight during the sports festival was intense."

Midorya smiled brightly, and I was reminded that I was supposed to be intimidated by this kid. Just this morning I'd thought of the way that he'd been intimidatingly fierce during the sports festival, breaking his own fingers without a thought. "Also, you are the guy who was breaking all your bones during the festival, right?"

He nodded, ducking his head in embarrassment. "Yeah. I've gotten better at using my quirk though, and I don't do that anymore."

I blinked. "I guess I thought I must have mixed you up with somebody else. All of your fights were so intense and fierce, but you're very... nice?"

He managed to look even more embarrassed, and Denki grinned. "Yup! Midorya is intimidating during fights, but a little fluffy cinnamon roll most of the time."

Uraka laughed. "Awe, stop teasing him, I think he's dying of embarrassment!"

Todoroki blinked. "Midorya can be quite kind during fights too."

Shinso coughed and replied sarcastically. "What, was he yelling encouragement at you during your crazy fight?"

Midorya seemed to melt into the floor. Todoroki nodded. "Yes, he did."

Shinso raised an eyebrow at the puddle that was Izuku Midorya. "What - why?"

Midorya suddenly rose to his defense. "Todoroki was going through something and I wanted to help him. He will be a great hero one day, but he wasn't using his power to its fullest potential!"

Todoroki nodded, staring intently at Midorya in a way that made me feel vaguely like I was witnessing something I wasn't supposed to.

Midorya turned to Shinso, who looked vaguely alarmed. "Which reminds me, I need to talk to you alone at some point. It's about what you said during the sports festival."

Shinso raised an eyebrow before turning back to his lunch. "Whatever."
