numb. that was tanya felt since she woke up from her bed. eating her heart during the breakfast as her parents decided to ignore their daughter and act like there was nothing last night.
and when she walked through the hallway, she tried to ignore some looks from the students who stared at her as if she was a zombie. swollen eyes, flustered cheeks and pale lips. she didn't even have any intention to put some make-up on to covered her mess from crying all night. when she walked heading to her class, she felt someone approached her. and once she knew who it was, she immediately glared at her.
"fuck off," tanya mumbled as she glared at marina who approached her and was about to open her mouth.
"tanya, I just want to—"
"if you don't want to feel what it's like to be a boy who mocked my cousin for being gay when we were in 9th grade, then fuck off," she stated coldly.
"I want to explain—"
"shut up before I hit you in the head and you bleed to death, joder!" she screamed, gaining some look from the students near them.
"do you realize that we're same?" marina suddenly grabbed her hand, preventing tanya to go away from her, "brave, stubborn, unafraid of danger... and always getting in trouble,"
"and that's the difference between you and me," tanya hissed, "yes, I fucked up. many times more than you've ever imagined. but I'll never drag anyone to take the responsibilities of my own mess. that's the difference,"
"you ruined my life," tanya took a step closer to her and whispered, "you may sleep in peace now. but there's a price to pay when you messed up with me,"
"and what is that?" marina cockily asked her, making tanya to squinted her eyes and smiled cunningly.
"do you know that I can do anything, right?" she said, eyeing marina from head to toe, "and framing you as you're the one who stole carla's father's watches isn't that hard to do,"
"qué dices (what are you saying)?" marina asked her, she could feel the paranoia in marina's voice.
"nada," tanya devilishly smiled at her.
tanya harshly tried to let go of marina's grip on her hands. while marina stared at her blankly and it took a minute before she closed her mouth and watch to leave her.
tanya immediately walked towards the class and reached the empty seat near the outdoor window. she placed her totebag on the table then drifted her mind off as she glanced at the window. she didn't realize that someone sat beside her and called her name several times.
"tanya," she startled when she felt someone reached her hand. she exhaled in relief when she noticed it was carla.
"tanya, are you okay?" carla asked her in concerned when she noticed her unpleasant look.
"sí. estoy bien, carla," she nodded and gave carla a little smile to reassure her.
while carla furrowed her eyebrows. she knew exactly that her best friend didn't seem fine at all. but she didn't want to push her to tell her about it. because she knew that tanya needed time and it would took some time before tanya told her about the problem.
"are you sure?" carla asked, which tanya nodded at her as an answer.
"qué pasa?" tanya immediately asked her, tried to change the topic so carla didn't ask questions about her.
carla keep silent for a moment before she glanced over the class and whispered to her, "it's about the watches. I've talked to my father,"
"and?" tanya asked carla.
