A Missing Part Connected

I walk up to the kids. As I walk up Kishona and Kyron begin to cry. As I see them cry nonstop, I run to comfort them. Kishona and Kyron remember me but I don't remember them. Kevin doesn't know me. All he knows is that he has siblings and he has to come live with the oldest one.

As I look at each of "my" older (kids), I see bruises and scratches. Kevin has a black eye. I begin to cry for them. Reason 1; I have missed out on a part of their life. Reason 2; Someone has been beating them.

As I look around the hospital, I see that there was nobody in the family conference room. I tell Khya," Go get our kids". She nods. I take Kishona. Kevin and Kyron into the conference room. I asked Kishona the questions because she was the oldest.

Kendall: Kishona! Tell me something. Why are y'all bruised and scratched up. Our dad has been beating us. He put me in the hospital 3 months ago. He put Kevin and Kyron in the hospital a month ago. Kevin has been slapped at least 30 times in the last 3 days. When we were called by the lawyer, we packed quickly. We left last night. I took my dad's money. He had about 575 dollars in his wallet. I took that so we could get here. We boarded 3 buses to get here in North Carolina from Tennessee. It took up about 200 bucks. We ate and I bought snacks for us to eat along the ride. That took up 100 dollars. We caught a taxi here and and stopped to get food. That was another 100. I split everything I had left with Kevin and Kyron. And now we are here.

Kendall: Hold up. I thought Kevin had a different mom.

Kishona: He does. His mom died 2 years ago. He came to stay with us. He started to beat us when Kevin came. Kyron has been....

Kendall: Been what?

Kishona: Raped every night for the last month.

As soon as she finishes her words, I run to Kyron, pick him up and hug him non-stop. I said it will be alright. We go out of the conference room on a good note. We get in the van that my mom drove to the hospital in. We leave and get ready to go home.

As we ride home, I continue to read the will. I find out that the house is furnished and all we have to do is being clothes and move in. I tell Khya to stop the van. We turn the van around and begin the route to the new house.

We get there and I am beyond astonished. My dad bought a house on the lake and is blatantly beautiful. We go in. I tell each of the kids to find there own room. We put Kamaya and Harmony in a room and Haemon and Kamayon in a room. The lights go out and we all sleep peacefully.
