I remember it like it was yesterday. I was walking down the road in my home town, not having a care in the world. A foreigner had noticed my horns, and he began speaking of brilliant stories that captured my interest. I was so captivated by the male's words that I wasn't sure if I was able to snap out of the way I was acting. That's when it happened. When the strange people took me.

I was taken to the circus. I was treated poorly by those around me, and me being fifteen had made me vulnerable. Some close calls on death have happened to me. Between eating food that was possibly drugged, I was surviving on bits of bread each day. I was proud to have the food I got, because I knew I could trust the little old lady with three bosoms. It was weird, but she was kind to me.
My horns had been polished every night by a tall male. He was famous for being a talented ventriloquist. He liked to make puppets as a boy, so he enjoyed sharing those stories with me. There was a specific doll that Stucks (that was what everyone called him) loved. Her name was Polly and she was a beautiful porcelain puppet with a bright smile on her face. Stucks let me hold her from time to time because I was a such a good boy.
"Stucks, why does her cheeks have red on them?" I asked him once, my innocent brown eyes looking up to him. He let out a chuckle, and it was a distinctive laugh that I could recognize anywhere. He placed his hand on my head, roughing it up.
"Polly has red cheeks because she is blushing," Stucks explained, "you know how when you get embarrassed?" I nodded gently at him. "Some people blush when they get embarrassed." I finally understood why most of his puppets had blushy cheeks.

I was just brought to the circus. My body was shivery and achy from being handled roughly. A faint pant had echoed from my mouth into the room. There were oddly tall men and women with beards. I was confused.
"Who are you people? Let me out of here!" I exclaimed, banging at the heavy metal door to the room I was disposed in. I missed my mother and my brothers and my family. I slid my hands down the door. My body curled into a tight little ball. I remembered tears streaming down my face, but the people said I was dry-faced.
"Please, help me.. I want to go home," I whimpered to the people. My horns had been chipped at some points, but I was more concerned on saving myself. They all just stared at me as if I was some sort of animal. I was still human! I had characteristics of a human! I whimpered, covered my ears, and screamed out, "go away, go away, go away!" multiple times.
I wasn't helping my situation. No one spoke up. No one told me where I was. I was a teenager with the looks of a ten year old. If anyone would help me, I wouldn't ever know how to pay them back. My mother had to be worried. I bet she was looking for me right at that instant.
I was immediately stripped of my clothes by a band of males. They dressed me in an outfit.. a really revealing outfit. My body shivered, and I thrashed around as their hands touched me in places I wish they had not touched. I was lifted up from the ground, stood on my feet, and pushed into this dark room. The lacy light blue outfit made me want to throw up.
Suddenly, I found myself moving up. I was looking up to see lights. A lot of lights! I was free! When I reached the top, I was encaged in a circular cage. There were people all around me, laughing gutteral laughs and eating popcorn. My eyes were blinded by the flashes of cheap Nikon cameras. My body fell forward into the metal cage. I gripped it tightly as I began to scream out.
"Help me! These people captured me!" I screamed at the excited fans. My words were never heard because I was too shy voiced to compete with the voices of the crowd. Tears filled my eyes as I was exploited all across the place. I was now going to be a famous freak.
A large voice boomed, and the crowds calmed. I shivered as the intercom's voice pierced through my ear canal and into my brain. It printed the words that I would never forget in my mind:
"Welcome to the Show!"
