"Shut up bitch!" Leila's father's voiced echoed through the house followed by a loud bang. Leila shrugged and put on her headphones. "I'm so tired of all this nonsense. I wish I could meet someone who would take me away from all this" she thought as she stared blankly through the window. Even though it seems cold that she just blocked her fighting parents out, Leila grew up with them fighting. Each time after a fight her mother would promise her that they will leave and never return. It never happened. Both of them are still stuck with him. She never went to the authorities and he never gave up alcohol.
Leila sighs. She grabbed her phone and dialed Kelsey's number. "Hey, I'm in a bad space. Can we hang out for a bit?" Leila asked as soon as Kelsey answered. "Are they at it again?" Kelsey asked in reply. "Of course, it's as if they never stop" Leila replied. "I'm just hanging out at Tim's for a while. You can come over in an hour then we'll have a sleepover" Kelsey said. "Okay I'll see you in a bit". Leila said as she hung up.
She frowned as she was greeted with silence when she opened her bedroom door. She gasped in shock when she entered the living room and find her mother unconscious. "Mom! Mom!" wake up she screamed as she shook her mother, without getting any response. In her hurry to get to the phone she failed to notice her father watching her from behind the sofa. Just as she picked up the phone to dial emergency services, she felt a heavy blow to the back of her head. The menacing grin on her father's face was the last thing she saw, before she fell unconscious.
