At the gala pt1

(Ik I probably shouldn't post this now but I'm bored so. Enjoy :)

Henry's POV
I'm walking through the mall with Ellie just trying to find something. "A birthday gala" I chuckle "I knew Galeforce was dramatic, but a gala?" I continued talking to Ellie "I've never met this guy but I like him" she responds as we walk out of another store.

Ellie agreed to be my plus one in case Charles does show up. Although one good thing about her knowing what happened is she's stopped bugging me to find a girlfriend. All it took was to have a mental break on our living room floor.

"Sooooo, what's the dress code again?" she asks for the fifth time. I sigh but answer. Again. "Something formal like a suit or a dress" and she's pouting. Again.

"Look I know you don't like dressing up but please for my sake" she looks up to me she's a little shorter then Charles. Damn it, stop thinking about him

"Fine" she said I let out a sigh of relief, it was to soon. "But you have to wear a suit I pick" I grimace to myself knowing she's not the best when it comes to fashion.

Or is she really as bad as I thought.

At the gala (no one's POV)
Galeforce is mingling with soldiers, non government friends and higher in command officers all celebrating his birthday. He was in his formal attire(idk how formal uniform's looks like so just picture one). As he was talking to another general they heard audible gasps and awes.

Turning where everyone was looking he saw two people entering. A petite but strong looking, amber eyed, red head. Her hair tied up in a fashionable bun with two locks of curls framing her face. She's wearing a very fitted flowing red dress with a split that was just above her knee.

The red head also had her arm linked around a tall, silver and blue eyed, male. Wearing a deep grayish blue suit and black tie. Hair black, curly and a little messy but still looked good. Henry spots the general and leads Ellie to him.

"My my, I didn't expect you to show up in an actual suit Stikmin" Galeforce joked as Henry and Ellie got close

"I didn't have a choice Ellie wore a dress for me, she picked out the suit" Henry retorted. Henry pulls Ellie closer to the general and introduces "General Galeforce this is Ellie, I ran into her shortly after I left" "it's a pleasure to meet you Ellie?" Galeforce said questioningly "Rose, Ellie Rose" she replied.

"I heard you were a little dramatic" She said getting back at him for joking about Henry. Galeforce cracks a smirk "and where did you hear that?" "Oh I don't know" she tapped her chin and continued "but throwing a gala for your birthday, kinda proves that point" Henry left the two to their banter and walked to the buffet set up.

Henry's POV
I'm fixing my food when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn to see my ex-cell keeper/partner number 2. After Charles. "Rupert?" He smiled "I thought that was you. Man, you sure know how to make an entrance. I thought I would never see you again." He told me. "And I thought you quit after being partnered with me." I playfully threw at him. "Look, you know why I didn't wanna partner with you" he defended.

I grab a cookie to put on my plate; facing towards the smaller man in front of me with a devilish smile. "Oh right, something about your crush was it" He turn bright red at the comment which only widen my smile.

He mumbled "Well if only your partner didn't bail you wouldn't know that." My smile faded quickly he realized he said it out load

"Wait! I didn't mean it like." He spits out. I shake my head "it's okay, at least the government doesn't have to deal with me anymore" I joked. He chuckles "I would love to stay and chat but I have my crush to get back to" he wonders over to my other ex-cell keeper, Dave.

I sat down near the back of the room and was shortly joined by Ellie. "Who was that?" "One of my ex-partners" I answer. "Sooooo, by the vague description you gave me, I don't see Charles." She said looking over the room again while sitting next to me. "It's okay, if Galeforce said I was coming I doubt he'd show up. Besides..." I was cut off

"Henry?"

Charles POV
(The day before)
General was about to start begging "Charlie, I know you just transferred back" he paused I waited "and?" "Would you like to come to my birthday gala?" He FINALLY ASKS dang, I forgot how much he beat around the bush I thought "I have a few things to unpack, but I'm sure my uniform is somewhere." I replied to his question.

"Good, I thought I would have to beg before getting a maybe." I knew said that being playful but it hurt, more then I thought it would. "Yeah, I was just I little busy last year" I nervously spit out damn, I'm bad at this He breaks the awkward silence "well, I got to go, I'll see you there" clearly unconvinced. "Yeah I promise I'll be there"

(At the gala after Henry arrived)
Maybe I shouldn't have come I thought walking up to the doors is there a back entrance? I didn't see one. I grab the handle and push it open a little just enough to fit through. "Well can't turn back now" I mumble to myself.

I'm wearing my formal uniform nothing noticbly fancy and my headphones broke, for reasons, so I can't wear them.

I'm looking for the general and see so many people, officers and non officers. I didn't know Galeforce had so many friends, well the invite did say you could bring a plus one I thought while practically hugging the wall. I spotted him talking to a redhead I don't recognized.

After a few minutes of waiting she gets asked to dance by someone else I don't recognize and I walk up to the general.

Why am I so nervous I tap his shoulder and he turns to me. "Hi, Gener..." He cut me off with a suffocating hug. "General....I can't....breathe" he let's go but leaves a hand on my shoulder to keep me balanced. "My apologies, I honestly didn't expect you to come" he told me. I catch my breath and say "I promised I would come this time." He smiles and says "Yes you did."

We talk for an hour or so about what's happened in the month after our last call. Stuff like stories about other pilots and squads how much he's missed me. He keeps hinting at me flying under his command again. I finally set my hand on his shoulder after the unknown number of times he brought it up. Making sure he's looking in my eyes. "General..." He makes eye contact I'm smiling "...I'm going to be flying at my regular post come Tuesday" he smiled wide as did I

We chatted a little more. Until I got hungry so I went to the buffet table and was about to fix a plate.

When I see curly black hair sitting at a table not far. My body starts moving on its own. Why am I doing this? I'm behind the one I hope, praying it is.

"Henry?"
