It was a new day in the small town of Clarkville. The sun brings excitement and thrill to the morning. But this was not the case in this town.
Aimee Spencer came out of the door of her house at 7 in the morning with a bag on her back as she did routinely. She stood near the bushes, waiting for him. And there he came, Will Anderson.
"Hey, I have been waiting for sometime and you are late as usual," said Aimee with a grin on her face as she was used to him being late as they walk to the school together every morning. Their relationship went through the evolution of neighbors to friends over ten years.
"Sorry, Aimes. You know girls like well-groomed boys and yes, I want them to notice me," chuckled will.
Will was really an epitome of a teenage high schooler with his black hair and dreamy green eyes. His handsome looks were clear from his brawny body and his height of nearly 6 feet.
"I texted you last night, but you did not respond. So I thought you were busy." said Will.
"My mom was home early last night, and she wanted to have dinner together and you know how she is about rules and discipline. I was so drowsy after the dinner so I went to bed after dinner." said Aimee as they walked down the sidewalk of the silent avenue.
The crunchy sound echoed as they trod on the dry leaves scattered about the sidewalk on their way to the school.
Aimee glanced around and noticed worry and silence in the atmosphere. People were coming out of their homes as they started their day. Some were going to their work while some were going to daily morning jog. But as they did their activities, there was an unsaid caution in whatever they did.
"Hey, what are you looking at?" said Will when he noticed her looking around for some time.
"Just how this town has changed over a few days." said Aimee worried about her pleasant town where she lived.
They both turned around, startled by the sound of the siren, which was the only loud noise that roamed around the town these days. The car of the sheriff stopped before a house and sheriff stepped out of the car and proceeded to ring the bell of the house.
"It looks like it's the turn of the Riley's today." Aimee said.
"Yes. How long do you think it will take until they find something?"
"Well, I don't know, but these daily rounds to different houses indicate they have found nothing yet. I think we should get going or we are going to be late."
It took them ten minutes to reach their destination- Trinity High
"Hey guys, what's up!" shouted Hrithik as he came running towards Will and Aimee.
"Hey dude, so how was the study group yesterday?" asked Will.
"Good until we opened our books." chuckled Hrithik
The morning bell rang, indicating the commencement of the class.
"Before we open our books today, I would like to introduce a new passenger in our voyage of knowledge." said Mr. Stevens as excited as always.
