"Would you like to take another another pancake, dear?"
"No, I think I'm quite full."
"Oh, come on! You always make breakfast for me and Aimee. Now, I have made you a hearty meal and I don't want you to feel hungry."
"What's happening here? Mom, what are you doing in the kitchen and making breakfast? What's with the reversed roles, and why aren't you at work?" Aimee came down from her room, astonished at the scene she saw in the kitchen.
"Well, its nothing!. I got a call from my boss in the morning and he said I should work from home for a few days."
"Were you fired? Because it sounds like it." her face grew anxious.
"What! Why..no!" she shockingly looked at Aimee. "Don't think that. Think it that now I will get more time to spend with you guys."
Her mother dragged her to the kitchen table and pushed her down on the chair. "First, have your breakfast- these delicious pancakes."
"And I am glad." she placed a plate in front of Aimee at the table. "I was exhausted by sitting at the desk, anyways. This could be an oppertunity for me at a long due promotion." chuckled her mother.
"You will definitely get it, honey" his dad smiled.
Aimee mused how panic spread among everyone last night when they heard about the sudden discovery of a dead body causing the abrupt end to their party and how they rushed to their houses and how she had climbed back to her room as she did it through the window earlier.
"Aimee!! Aimee dear!"
She felt a sudden jolt on her right shoulder, which broke her reverie.
"Yes... yes, dad! Wha.. what happened?," she stuttered.
"Your food. Your pancakes are getting cold, lying their for almost two minutes.," her dad replied as she looked at her plate of pancakes smeared in sweet syrup and cream.

"How terrible, isn't it! First that boy went missing and now this- a dead person."
"Yes, papa. Nobody thought that." Hrithik closed the science textbook in his hand.
"I am so glad you returned home safely last night from the study group." Hrithik's mother kissed her on the forehead.
Hrithik wondered how he was enjoying at the study group dancing and singing and drinking before everything was ruined due to the discovery of that bloody body!
But at the same time he was concerned about whose body it could be. Is it really Lucas as everybody speculated?
"So dear, what are your plans today considering there is no school today?", inquired her mother as she put the dirty plates in the sink.
"Well, we decide over the text that we are going to meet at Hilly-Billy joe later.", replied Hrithik. And as soon as he said that, he knew what was coming next.
"No!". Her mother turned to him. "You are not going anywhere not until everything goes back to normal." chided her mom.
"But-"
Her mother's eyes widened, brows lifted, turning into a scowl.
"Let him go." came the voice which always supported him. "But be extra careful as you go anywhere, understand." His father shifted his eyes to him.
"Of course, dad and don't worry I have my friends with me." Hrithik jumped from the sofa onto the ground with a smile on his face.
