2 WEEKS LATER
"Lunch time!" I yelled to Gemma from in the kitchen. I had been watching her during the day, while Anne was at work and Harry was job hunting. Anne had gotten a job at the women's shelter as a maid.
"Coming!" Gemma yelled, running into the kitchen and sitting at the table. "What did you make me?"
"Spaghetti." I smiled at the girl, knowing it was her favorite.
"Yes!" She cheered and began devouring her lunch. I checked my phone for a message from Harry but there were none. He was supposed to be home soon so that I could go to lunch with Patrick. We had been seeing each other recently, nothing serious but it was fun.
"Hey!" Harry greeted, walking through the front door.
"You're late." I scolded him, slipping my shoes on and grabbing my purse to leave.
"You're not gonna ask how it went?" Harry smirked.
"How did it go?" I sighed, not really wanting to hear about another day of failed job interviews.
"I got it."
"Aw I'm sorry-" I reflexively tried to console him. "Wait what?!"
"I got the job!"
"Oh my god! Congratulations!" I ran to hug him and he picked me up off the ground. I felt butterflies in my stomach and tried to push them down.
"You're looking at the new manager of JJ's Pub and Grill!" He laughed setting me back down onto the floor.
"I'm so happy for you!" I hugged him once again and the butterflies returned.
"How bout that Gem? I've got a job!" He ran to Gemma and picked her up from her chair.
"Yay!" She cheered.
"I hate to miss out on the celebrating but I've gotta go." I sighed.
"Well how about if we celebrate tonight? Just me and you, dinner or a drink or something?" Harry asked.
"Absolutely." I smiled and slipped out the front door, the butterflies still flitting around my stomach.

"How's yours?" Patrick asked gesturing to my food. I had ordered a grilled chicken pasta dish, by recommendation of our waiter.
"Really good actually." I nodded emphatically.
"Good." Patrick smiled. "So how's your cousin?"
"My what?" I asked, confused.
"Your cousin. The one that's been staying with you."
It took me a minute to remember that I had told him Harry was my cousin.
"Oh-uh-good yeah, thanks for asking."
"What has he been doing while he's here?"
"Um, he got a job actually so he's been pretty busy."
"Wow. So he's staying with you for a while I guess? If he got a job and everything."
"Yeah. I mean eventually he'll get his own place but I like having him around for now." I felt bad lying to Patrick, but it was too late to take it back now.
"Cool." Patrick nodded and wiped his mouth with his napkin. "You done?" He asked me.
"Yeah." I reached for the check but Patrick got to it first. "Split it?" I offered.
"I got it." Patrick shrugged.
"Okay."
On the car ride home Patrick turned on a hip-hop radio station and I tried my hardest not to show how much I hated it. Patricks thumbs tapped a beat on the steering wheel.
"You like it?" He asked.
"Totally." I lied.
He pulled up in front of the apartment building and I started to open the door to get out.
"Let me walk you up." Patrick offered.
"No no it's fine." I tried to wave away the offer for fear of him meeting Harry.
"No please, I want to." He smiled and got out of the car. As we walked up to my apartment floor, he held my hand. And as much as I wanted I didn't feel the butterflies. We reached my door and I tried to dissuade him from coming into the apartment.
"I'm actually really tired." I found myself lying to him again. "But I'll see you at work tonight, right?"
"Yeah of course." He smiled and I turned to open my door, but he pulled me back so that our chests were pressed together.
"I had a nice time." He muttered, moving in closer to kiss me.
"Me too." I smiled and moved me head slightly to kiss his cheek, before quickly opening the door to my apartment and slipping inside. I pressed my back against the door and caught my breath.
"Geez." I heard Harrys voice from the couch. "Was the date that bad?" He teased.
"No." I lied. "It was great."
"Good." A moment of awkwardness passed between us. "Well I have to go now. I'm gonna drop Gem off at the shelter and hangout with my mum for a little bit."
"Okay." I nodded.
"Will you be ready to go out by like 6?" Harry asked.
"Sure. Pick me up from our place then?"
"Our place?" Harry smirked.
I felt myself blush. "I meant my place...sorry."
"It's cool." Harry chuckled. "I'll pick you up from our place at 6." He smiled at me, then grabbed his coat and left.
"Shit." I sighed covering my face with my hands.

I worked on some of my classes for a while in-between lunch with Patrick and dinner with Harry. Since I had started watching Gemma I had switched a lot of my classes to online classes so that I could be home to watch her.
My phone started to ring and I answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hey." Harrys voice came from the other line.
"Whats up?" I asked.
"I made reservations at that new mexican place downtown, so wear something nice alright?"
"Isn't that place kind of expensive?" I worried.
"Yes, but I'm a working man now remember?" I could practically hear Harry's smirk.
"Whatever you say." I chuckled and hung up the phone.
I frantically searched through my closet for something nice to wear. I ended up picking a lace skirt and a blouse. I paired it with ankle boots and the purse I had gotten as a birthday present from my parents (A/N Outfit to the side or above if you're on an ipad or iphone). Just a few minutes after I finished my hair and makeup I heard a knock on the front door. I opened it and saw Harry standing there, dressed in a button down black shirt, non-ripped jeans, and dress shoes.
"Well don't you clean up nice." I smiled.
"You too man, wow." He laughed. "Seriously you look great."
"Oh trust me, I know." I laughed and we began to walk out to the car.
"Do you want to drive?" I asked him.
"Sure." He answered and I handed him my keys. He walked around to the passenger door and held it open for me.
"What a gentleman." I teased.
"I try." He shrugged and jogged around to the drivers seat. "Music?" He asked reaching for the radio.
"Sure." I said, silently praying he didn't turn on rap.
He turned on the 80's hits station and Escape by Rupert Holmes came on.
"Oh my god I love this song." I said.
"For real?" Harry laughed. "Me too!"
We belted out the lyrics the whole way to the restaurant.
"If you!" He sang.
"You kinda have a nice voice." I smiled at Harry.
"Meh." He shrugged. "I used to be in church choir when I was little, my mom was obsessed with the idea of me becoming a singer."
"That's cute." I chuckled. We pulled up in front of the restaurant and Harry rushed to open my door for me.
"Ma'lady." He smiled waving an arm out in front of me.
"Why thank you sir." I blushed. Harry handed the valet my keys.
"May I?" Harry asked, offering his arm for me to take. I slipped my arm through his and we walked into the restaurant together.
We ended up ordering a giant burrito and splitting it. All through the meal we talked and laughed together. I learned about his childhood before his dad started drinking and it sounded really wonderful. Full of family game nights and trips to the zoo. I was almost jealous.
"What about your family?" Harry asked me the question I had been avoiding all night. "I don't think you've told me anything about them."
"Oh well...there's not much to tell I guess. Growing up it was just me and my mom. She married my stepdad when I graduated high school."
"What about your biological dad?"
"I've never met him." I shrugged. "He and my mom got divorced when she was still pregnant with me, he never tried to contact me."
"Do you ever miss him?" Harry asked.
"Not really." I shrugged again. "I mean how could I miss him if I've never met him right?"
"Are you and your stepdad close?"
"No. He's really nice and stuff but I hardly know him. But he makes my mom happy so it's cool."
"That's nice." Harry smiled and reached across the table to squeeze my hand. I felt a shiver run through my body at the contact with his skin. As much as I tried to deny it, there were definitely some feelings there for Harry, even if they were just physical (although I was pretty sure they weren't). We finished the meal and Harry payed.
"One last stop." Harry smiled opening my door for me.
"Where?" I asked.
"Surprise." Harry smirked.
A few minutes later we pulled up in front of a brightly lit store front.
"Frozen yogurt bar!" Harry exclaimed.
"Yes!" I cheered.
We hurried into the building and loaded up on yogurt and toppings. We payed and decided to eat it on the car ride home, since we were both tired and I wanted to lay down before work.
"Thanks for a fun night." I smiled to Harry, taking off my shoes and jacket.
"Of course, anytime." He smiled back to me.
"I'm gonna lay down for a bit." I yawned walking into my bedroom. "Do me a favor and wake me up at like 11?"
"Sure." Harry nodded from his place on the couch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Luci? Wake up."
I felt a hand on my shoulder, gently shaking me.
"It's 11," Harry whispered. "You've got to get ready for work."
"No." I mumbled.
"Yes." Harry chuckled. I grabbed his hand and pulled him down into bed.
"No." I said again. "Comfy."
"I know it's comfy but you have to go to work." He laughed again.
I opened my eyes and saw Harry facing me, our faces only inches apart. My pulse sped up as Harry reached over and placed a hand on the side of my face.
"I really want to kiss you." He muttered.
I nodded, silently agreeing. Slowly he moved in closer and pressed his lips to mine, and I swear to god there were literal fireworks. Literal fireworks went off. I sat up to deepen the kiss but he pushed me back down. Placing an arm on either side of me and attaching his lips to my neck. I let my hands travel up to his hair and run through it.
"Luci." He muttered against my skin.
"What?"
"You really do have to go to work." He chuckled, sitting up and smiling down at me.
I rolled my eyes and sat up as well. I placed a hand on his neck and quickly pecked his lips before jumping up and throwing on my shoes and jacket.
"Bye." I smiled at Harry.
"Bye." He smile back.
