He had his head down, focused on his phone and in a hurry to get to the studio. He was late already and the queue at the coffee shop hadn't helped.
He opened a message to the producer who he knew would be sitting tapping his fingers on the desk, waiting patiently.
Dude. Sorry. Shouldn't have stopped to get coffee. Be there in 5
LHe slipped his phone into the back pocket of his jeans and sighing as he carried on up the street. The studio was close by, just around the corner but Louis had a track record of being late and didn't want it to become a habit these days.
His mind started wandering instantly. Lyrics floating through his head that had been brought to the surface over the last few weeks.
He'd been through a lot recently, another messy breakup that had been more public than he had hoped and a bitter court battle with ex management over his earlier records and contracts.
It was a lot.
He had been enjoying being able to tuck himself away in the comfort of a studio and work with people he trusted and who actually supported him.
It wasn't like the old days now. 10 years on since One Direction had parted ways Louis preferred to try and keep away from the public eye and focus solely on his own music.
As his mind wandered he didn't take in much of his surroundings, focusing his feet on taking him to the studio even if his mind had no clue.
That's when he saw him.
He was standing with his hands gripped on a pram, a pair of faded blue jeans and a cosy looking coat with vans slipped onto his feet.
Louis' feet stopped in their tracks, frozen to the spot as his eyes danced across the figure standing just yards away from him talking to the tiny human in the pram.
It had been so long. So long since they had last spoken in person or through messages.
Louis knew about his recent happy news of course. It had been all over news and tabloids, even more impossible to avoid when he checked his socials.
Suddenly as he considered turning and walking back the way he had come, a pair of green eyes looked up from the baby and stared directly at him.
Those eyes, he was never be able to drag his gaze away from those eyes and even though it had been so long, the memories came flooding back.
The figure hesitated for a moment and then started to walk over to him, a smile spreading across their face. Before Louis could think straight the figure was before him.
'Louis,' he smiles, his voice just as deep and silky smooth as it always was.
Louis pauses for a second before taking a deep breath and smiling back, 'Harry,' he replies.
