You know that feeling when you roll over and turn your alarm off and say "just 5 more minutes" and then it's 2 hours later? That's what it felt like when I woke up. The first thing I saw was the sunlight coming in through the window, I blinked a couple times before the pain hit me and I groaned, it made the person next to me sit up quickly. It was my mom, I hadn't even noticed anyone was around me. She just stared at me, I reached my hand over and grabbed hers. She looked so tired like she hadn't slept. She jumped up, hugged me, and yelled out, I groaned and when she pulled back she started apologizing, I gave her a weak smile and said "I think I'm going to be home late." She started laughing and I could see the tears in her eyes, I touched her face And said "momma, I'm okay. Sonya? Sonya, where is she?" She smiled and kissed my hand "she's at my house, after they called to tell me what happened, I picked her up and dropped her at my house before coming here." I let out a breath that I was holding and actually looked around my room when a nurse, Sarah, came in she looked at me and said "well it's about time you woke up, you really had us worried." I tried laughing but it hurt and she was concerned "I just like to keep life interesting." I said. I had a vase with flowers next my bed and my mom noticed me staring at them, "Wally." She said. I nodded my head.

My mom called everyone to tell them I was awake and I swear in 10 minutes my whole family was in my room telling me how happy they were that I was awake. I smiled and then the question came "so what actually happened?" My sister asked. I took a deep breathe and told them what had happened. They all had the same look and the best way to explain it is "that's intense" and it was. I think I said the words "I'm fine" at least 30 times before my mom agreed to go home and shower, the doctor said I can go home tomorrow.

I finally checked my phone after everyone left and I am very surprised my phone didn't crash with all the traffic and notifications it had. I think I was trending on Facebook and the news. There was an odd text from a number I didn't know "I'm glad you're not dead." I didn't have a chance to reply, I heard a little voice yell "auntie" I looked up and there was Elizabeth coming in with little miss sunshine, my niece Faith. I smiled as Elizabeth placed her on the bed, she hugged me tightly. She looked at my IVs and wrinkled her forehead "auntie, what those?" I looked down to where she was pointing, "those are where auntie gets medicine to make her all better." Her forehead wrinkles got deeper "auntie not okay?" I smiled "you remember when you feel and auntie picked you up?" She nodded fast "auntie got hurt and the people here are helping pick me up." She looked at me "why?" Elizabeth seemed very amused with this interaction but she finally stepped In "baby why don't you play with the toys we brought?" Faith instantly perked up "toys?" She hopped down and sat in a chair with her toys. Elizabeth came and hugged me "I'm so glad you're okay." She whispered in my ear. I hugged her back tightly, "I will always be okay." I whispered back. We smiled " Anyway I can't leave you with little miss there. You wouldn't believe how many people have been in here today, I feel like my head is spinning." She nodded "You are trending, someone caught the whole thing on camera. There are so many people talking about it and nosey people who don't even know you trying to ask about your condition." I frowned, "ugh people annoy me." She laughed at me, we sat there and talked for a while. She caught me up on people and that now there is a go fund me page. When I finally looked at my phone again I called my manager, "hey I'm so sorry I ha-" he cut me off "Lexi, when you didn't show up for work Kenny called your phone and your mom told him what happened. Just get better we will fill out your FMLA paper work after you get out, okay? When you get back on your feet your job will be here waiting on you." I smiled a bit "thank you, I'll be in touch soon." After I hung up I called Kenny, he answered "how is she?" I smiled again "I'm alive Kenny" I heard him let out a breath "oh I'm so glad sunshine." I heard him yell to the rest of the crew that I was on the phone and he said "hold on let me put you on speaker." I smiled then I heard Brittany & Austin, "oh my god Lexi, why you gotta scare us like that." I laughed a little but instantly stopped from the pain "hey I'm alive, i did my part" they laughed and we talked for a bit longer before getting off the phone. I tried to reply to everyone that had texted me then I went to my Snapchat and just posted a simple message "I'm alive y'all" because it was so much easier than replying to everyone.

I was exhausted so I just put my phone up and went back to sleep, those hospital beds are more comfortable than they look.
