Lila’s POV
"UGH!" I closed Twitter, slapped my laptop shut and pushed away from my desk toward my closet. Twitter was so frustrating.
All I had done was click on a link to a photo. The only caption had been "STAHP."
There were way too many of those.
Most often, they were of one of the boys doing something ridiculous, not one of the boys plus their girlfriend looking like a freaking supermodel. This one had been one of those. Of Liam and Danielle.
Not that I didn’t like Danielle. She seemed like a really sweet person, and she was stunning. I just didn’t ship her with Liam like apparently everyone else on the planet. I’m not Team Payzer.
I stared into my closet for another four minutes before I even pulled anything out. I was going to a party for -guess who- Liam. I hadn't seen him in two years, and I doubted that he even remembered my name. He had gone to my school before auditioning for the X-Factor, and although the two of us had never been good friends, we had some friends in common and had gone to the same parties, had classes together, and even sat at the same lunch table for a few years. And I had been "desperately in love with him." As much as a teenage girl could be anyway.
No one knew except my best friend Laurianna, but you could ask her how bad it was. At this point there are millions of girls with Mrs. Liam Payne written all over their notebooks or as their Twitter handle. Back then though, it had been just me. I had been the first one to be obsessed with Liam.
Like I said, he and I barely knew each other, but I had had the biggest crush on him for as long as I could remember. When he left, I had wanted to get over it and move on with my life, accepting the fact that I would probably never see him again. But when you hear his voice blasting from your radio or see his face on the telly every other time you turn it on, it's kind of impossible.
So now, I tried to pick what to wear to this party. It was a coming home party for Liam just for all his old mates from school, but also a New Year's Eve Party. I pulled out a short red skirt and grey blouse, but decided that looked to Christmasy. I also pulled out a grey flapper looking dress with half-length sleeves, but decided it looked funny on me since I had eaten too much for Christmas. Finally, I pulled out a long sleeved black dress and gold tights. I slid on my black heels and stepped in front of my full length mirror. It looked good on me. I liked the silhouette of the full skirt. It was just a little plain, so I went to my dresser for a big gold necklace. I had two, one that was new and really trendy, but another one that I used to wear nearly every day. I really liked the old one and it had so many good memories attached to it. It was made to look sort of like a Faberge Egg and I thought it was lovely. I was having a nostalgic moment thinking about Liam at school anyway, so I went with that one.
Again I checked myself in the mirror and decided that the outfit was actually pretty good, so I was finally ready to go dry and curl my chestnut coloured hair. My hair was really long and it took an ungodly amount of time to dry, even with a dryer. Curling it was just touching it up, but I was taking extra care tonight.
I had just tugged the plug to my curler out of the wall when my mobile buzzed. I saw Laurianna’s name.
Hurry it up girl!! We’re running late!
I dashed around my room grabbing my purse and tossing random stuff inside that I thought I might need. My coat was lying on my bed and I shoved my arms through the sleeves, making my way toward my bathroom. I took one last glance in the mirror before I left to make sure I was looking as close to perfect as possible for tonight. I didn’t think I was a really pretty person, but I looked alright for me. I ran out of my room, down the stairs, and through the front door. I crossed the lawn watching Laurianna wave me frantically on.
