Lila's POV
The rest of that night went really smoothly and was incredibly fun. Amanda really knew how to throw a party! I was prepared to feel very awkward about the kiss after it happened, but Liam had a way of making things normal. That doesn't mean I wasn't confused though.
Liam, Danny, Laurianna and I stayed after to help clean up too. We went around picking up fake plastic champagne flutes and other garbage. Us girls insisted that Liam and Danny go home, that Liam shouldn't clean up after his own party, but he wouldn't leave. His sweet insistence on helping was just another thing to add to my list of reasons why Liam is amazing, and I couldn't help having a little moment off to the side. I feel strange describing what I did as fangirling since it was someone I had known for most of my life, but I don't know what else to call it.
At one point when we were taking down the streamers we had put up together earlier, he actually brought up what I had been too chicken to.
"That kiss earlier was okay, right? It was just, you know, midnight, and everyone else... Just a friendly thing... You know..."
His need to make his question come out perfectly and the resulting awkwardness was so endearing and cute that I laughed.
"Of course! It was fun, and quite frankly saved me from a really awkward moment!"
"Oh I'm so glad! I was afraid I scared you off. I really wanted to be better friends when you come to London in the fall. Well, now too, but especially then!"
He was being so awkward it was actually adorable.
"Well I want to be better friends with you too, so it all works out!"
"Good!" He laughed just as Danny called his name.
"Ready to go mate?"
"Yeah. Bye Lila. It was brilliant catching up with you. You too Amanda! Laurianna!" He gave me another quick hug then dashed over to the other two before he grabbed his cost and chased Danny out the front door.
---------------------------------------------
It was August 31 and nearly eight months had passed since I had seen Liam. He had followed me on Twitter and DMed me a couple of times, but other than that, we hadn’t spoken.
Today was the day Laurianna and I were moving to London. Danny had moved at the beginning of the summer and was being sweet enough to rent a truck and drive it up here to help us. May I intersect here that Laurianna and Danny being apart was torturous for me, as well as the both of them. I had to listen to her talk about him nonstop when she wasn’t on the phone with him, but she was on the phone with him at least four hours every day and when they weren’t talking they were texting. I would be glad to move close to him again so that Laurianna would stop clinging to me in an attempt to deal with her abandonment issues.
Laurianna had packed all her things at her house and now she was at mine helping me finish up. Danny would come here first then we would go to her place and be on our way. He was supposed to be there in about ten minutes and I was still having trouble leaving things out of boxes.
“But my fourth year teacher gave me that photo frame for winning that award! You know, the one for doing that thing!” I desperately tried to convince Laurianna that the frame, which was covered in a tiny pattern of adorable dogs, was absolutely necessary and should come to London with me. She was holding it behind her back, though, and would jump away any time I got anywhere near.
“This thing is horrible! And you hated Mrs. Lovelace anyway.”
“Alright I suppose you can chuck it.”
