IVY POV:

Look, I'm not a Disney princess.

Though it crossed my mind many times; life as a princess. Easy and simplistic. Everything you want is granted by a fairy godmother and prince charming always saves the day.

Nothing like my life.

I walked downstairs around eight. I'm not a morning person. My step-mother Paracilla sat at the dining room table drinking coffee with my god-awful step-sister Jo.

I'm only joking, this isn't Cinderella.

"Love, I made some pancakes. There are strawberries in the fridge." Paracilla said as she set down her crossword. "Thanks, P" I responded, still half asleep. "Hunter is picking me up in 10."

Jo grimaced, "Um why can't I go with the smoking hot jock?" I laughed at that. Sure Hunter was hot, but he was my best friend. "Oh, com'mon! You can't tell me you haven't thought of railing that fine man!" I rolled my eyes but she wasn't wrong. Every girl that ever met Hunter fantasized about how good he was in bed.

I was thinking about it too much. Thank god my thoughts were interrupted by the horn of Hunter's black Jeep Cherokee. "I'll see you guys later!" I yelled running out the door in my ripped mom jeans and white tee.

"Hey, fish!" Hunter laughed as I jumped into the front seat of his car. He knew I hated that nickname. "Drive dumbass" I instructed him. He laughed and ran his hand through his golden-brown hair as he hit the gas.

When we got to Dancon School of Elements, I hopped out of the Jeep only to see everyone staring. But they weren't looking at me they were looking at him.

Weird how a popular boy like Hunter would hang out with a loser low-life like me.

I walked around the car to stand next to Hunter. We walked through the front doors as I tried to ignore all the stares from the freshman girls.

Now before you think I'm an average teenage girl with the hots for my best friend, a love for partying, and a typical drama-filled high school life, think again.

In this world, things are different. I glanced at Hunter and looked into his burning orange eyes. I thought of my own eyes. Green like an emerald.

I left Hunter to run from the fangirls and hurried to the bathroom. I looked into the mirror and sighed. After 16 years of hiding something, you'd think I would be used to being someone I'm not.

Looking at my reflection, I fixed my hair a bit and stared at the lies I held in my eyes. Blinding blue stared back and I grimaced.

Nobody needed to know my secret.
