Life seems so simple in the movies. People don't have roles in society based on what they were born with.

I had lost Hunter and probably won't see him until after school; the distance between us was at least a mile since our school is massive. Dancon is split into three different corridors.

In corridor one, you can find Fire-lords, the most powerful people at the school. They have the ability to control fire. Corridor one is made of fireproof steel, solely to protect the other students.

Corridor two consists of the Nymphs. Nymphs can bend water to any form they desire. Normally they are pretty safe but due to a few injuries and a couple of deaths many years ago the corridor was remade underground.

Last and least, Aereoartists in corridor three. At our school, they are considered low-lives. Not many air benders can use their ability to its full potential. Most Aereo's are intelligent with little physical ability. They take up about 3/4 of the school's population.

I study in corridor two, but my abilities are limited. I've never been able to bend water... at least not in the way you think. Hunter studies in corridor one. He's one of the most powerful people at our school. Another reason why I question our friendship.

As soon as the bell rang I lost my train of thought. I started to the Nile Center when my phone buzzed.

HUNTER: Lunch off campus today, ur paying

IVY: Sry can't, got a test at 2.

HUNTER: Lame. I need someone to pry Natalie away from my muscular biceps

IVY: Tell her I'll shove my toes in her mouth if she doesn't leave your skinny bones alone

HUNTER: ouch rude. These muscles are bigger than Mateo's ego.

I laughed but before I could respond I felt my head bump into a tall, beefy figure. I looked up to see Mateo towering over me. Mateo was one of Hunter's guy friends, another one of Hunter's relationships that confuses me.

"Ello Luv! How's my little quirky fish doing!" He chuckled, emphasizing the word quirky. God, I hate that word. It reminds me so much of Natalie, giggling as she walks around in search of her next prey to lure into her underwear.

"Fuck off loser," I replied rolling my eyes. "Awwww don't be like that! You know I love you!" I whacked him in the head with my book. "Mateo, I have no interest in you whatsoever. You only get your muscle from Kroger protein shakes and steroids. Plus, your ego is much larger than Hunter's biceps." I said laughing at my own reference.

He shook his head and chuckled.

I sighed and looked at the clock on the brick wall. How the hell was it still 1:30. I rested my head on my hands as the teacher basically lectured on how to not survive after high school.

Right before I doze off, a loud, static voice boomed through the room and I jerked my head up.

"HELLLOOOOO STUDENTS OF DANCON SCHOOL OF ELEMENTS!! I HOPE YOU ALL ARE HAVING A GREAT FIRST DAY! AT THIS TIME YOUR PRINCIPAL HAS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT."

There was a lot of rustling and whispers through the intercome until I heard the cold voice of Principle Ericson.

"Hello. This is Principle Ericson. Tomorrow will be testing day. I expect everyone to be on best behavior for the government officials as they monitor our school throughout the day. That will be all."

The intercom cut out as I sat fully awake. Testing day was always nerve-racking. I took a deep breath. This wouldn't be the year I messed up. I only have two more tests in total and I've passed all my previous tests. If someone found out about me the results would be... Let's just say...

life-ending.
