Taehyung slowly brushed his fingertips around Y/N's navel, lips quirking up at the corner as goosebumps trail in their wake. The two were still coming down from their sex high, naked and spread out across the blankets with the fire blazing within the hearth beside them and even though both of them were exhausted they didn't want to fall asleep yet, they wanted to enjoy this moment.
"What are you thinking about?" Y/N breaks the silence, fingers brushing through Taehyung's hair as he leans down to rest his head against her chest.
"I'm thinking about how incredible you are." He answers honestly, laughing as Y/N scoffs playfully at his words.
"Why?"
"The confidence it took to initiate things between us, to be the one who took the first step in closing that distance. I was so nervous that I couldn't even bring myself to do anything about it, I wanted to be intimate with you so badly but I was scared." Taehyung presses a kiss just above her navel, eyes fluttering closed as the warmth of the fire and the steady rise and fall of Y/N's chest relaxes him.
"I was scared too but I've been scared so much over the last few years that I didn't want that to stop me now, not with this. I spent so much time during my diagnosis and through the months of losing my sight absolutely terrified, knowing my life was never going to be the same and that I would have to figure out how to be this new version of myself. I guess going through that gave me the courage to say and do things I would usually be too afraid to do, doesn't mean I don't get scared though. I was really fucking terrified that you would walk through the door and reject me, that you would find it too weird sleeping with someone who can't even see you to know what you're enjoying. I had to speak with Miles to gather the courage to even try on the lingerie let alone come downstairs and wait for you wearing it but the alternative was to not have you in the way I wanted and that outcome is far scarier, so I pushed my doubts aside and took the risk."
Taehyung always knew that Y/N was a special woman and it had nothing to do with her condition, it was her courage and passion for life in spite of it.
"That's why you're incredible, that despite your doubts you still went through with it. I respect very few people, my world is full of the kind who pretend to be something they're not simply to get ahead or please others but not you." Taehyung lifts his head, chin resting on Y/N's stomach as he looks up at her. "You've been nothing but open and honest with me from the start."
Y/N smiles and Taehyung watches the way the flames dance across her face, she's so beautiful and his heart swells with the sudden rush of love that fills it.
"I'm in love with you." He whispers, eyes closing quickly as he hears the sharp intake of breath she takes. "I don't want to be afraid anymore, I want to push my doubts and fears aside just like you did earlier."
"Say it again." Y/N whispers back, thumb brushing below Taehyung's bottom lip.
