I woke up. A day more, a day less. Who really cares? All what really matters for me now is her. After her tragic but inevitable loss I guess I'm the only one she has and I have to use that for a good purpose.
It isn't new to say she got amnesia after her schizophrenia was diagnosed. She barely remembers what happened after the accident so it's normal she stills believing nothing ever happened and I have to be specially careful with that.
"Are we going to see mum?" She wakes up. She looks at me with those dark but beautifully galactic eyes. I've just arrived, how can I answer something like this.
"Yes! we're going to see your mum." -Although that's impossible, honey- I'd like to add. But it's something her brain can't understand for now.
"Please change your clothes and let's go. We will lose the bus if we don't hurry up!" She had just woken up so it's obvious she was still in her pajamas. Cute animal ones. I just can't with it.
"Okie! Wait me a second I'll be right back." After that she left and I decided to let her brain process slowly what was happening.
I know it wasn't easy. I know how frustrated she was.
I didn't have anything else to do so I just decided to wait for her outside. The night sky was so damn precious and all what I wanted was her to distract after all. This was a perfect moment.
She came back with an all black outfit similar to mine but it looked not too comfortable. I had an old, black hoodie with my jeans while she had a black jumper and a pair of high All Stars shoes. I still being taller than her anyway.
The clock let us know it was currently 11:11. Time for us to go to a non-existential place. I didn't have any idea of where we could go.
"Hmm.. I- I actually missed you so much. I know w-we've been saying this for so long and I f-forgot it but come here!" She tried to hug me and..
I just couldn't.
"Right. We said that a lot of times. -But it's not like you're going to remember me in some days anyway-." I said that in a whisper she couldn't hear so all I could see was her confused face.
A really confused one because I stopped walking. I was about to fall.
"ARE YOU OKAY? P-please you told me about this and I f-forgot. What should we do?" I felt her hand on mine but this wasn't really the moment.
And I was crying. Of course. She always holds my hand when I cry.
"Let's just go to the hospital. We're near after all. Let's go get the medications."
"Can I hug you? So you feel better, like you always say." She actually didn't wait for an answer and hugged me again.
"I'm sorry, we're in the middle of the street and we really need to go to the hospital. Can you wait?"
"Yes, I can." Brilliant. She was sad now. But what's the point if she doesn't have too many days of life anyway.
We arrived to the hospital and there was a huge queue waiting to be attended by the receptionist. Oh my God, this will take ages. We looked for chairs to sit in all the hospital until we finally found ones in the second floor.
"Can you go to sit there and wait for me? This shouldn't take too long."
"My knee hurts. A lot. I- I can't even walk."
"That's why I'm telling you to go and sit there. Just wait for me. I'll be back with your and my medications."
This floor didn't even have reception so I had to go back to the first one. I just hope she doesn't see me. Because I need to go.
"Uhmm.. hello! I wanted to ask for a bedroom for my friend to stay tonight. Is that possible? She's having bad hallucinations right now and she also has amnesia. I'm just a close friend, she doesn't really have family and I can't-.
Yes, yes! She's upstairs. I- I'm not sure if she sees me would be a good id-"
She was there. She was looking for her imaginary friends while going downstairs. She sadly sees me because she knows she's going to stay here one more night. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
She smiles. The last smile I've ever chosen to see because now it's all darkness again.
"Yes it's her. Can you take care of her? I need to go."
