Temis Outpost had been part of Transylvania land for almost two hundred years. Thick green vines grew all along its walls. At the top, dancing in the wind was a torn flag of the ancients that protected the land. Their sigil was a skull and two swords crossed together at the bottom. The guard towers had likely been used during the war with humans and monsters, it was said that not once did the monsters fight back but instead flee from the horrific trail of carnage that the humans left behind them.
The tower was tall and stood higher than the hotel castle. Winnie noted figures standing atop of the tower, gazing down at them, their eyes glistening in the moonlight. Winnie felt her ears flop down due to how eerie it made her feel, but Dawnstar did say to come here.
Creeeeek.
Flakes of rust exploded into the air as the rusty door to the tower screamed open. A figure approached, their hands bundled into their sleeves to keep them warm in the cool air.
"My name is Parerus. Declare your name and why you are here."
Dennis and Winnie exchanged a glance at one another, before finally answering.
"I'm Dennis, and this is Winnie. Our friend sent us here... her name is Dawnstar."
Parerus' eyes widened at the mention of her name.
"Then I suppose you know who we are, young one?"
"She only mentioned The League. Nothing else..." Winnie said.
"Hmm." Parerus beckoned them to come into the tower as it was, quite frankly, warmer and safer. The tower was quite spacious and had a lot of burning candles and torches attached to the walls with the naked flame dancing along the stone walls, a slight breeze leaking through the rusted door.
"The warmth is giving me the fuzzies", Winnie plopped herself on a half-broken bench that tipped over to the right from the weight of her body.
The air was thick with kerosene, strong, but the stench was nothing compared to the middle floor. That was where the kitchen was located. Winnie wouldn't be surprised if the food tasted like kerosene as well, but she would need to ignore it if it did.
Dennis explained what had happened at the castle, Parerus listened attentively. He did not utter one word or attempt to interrupt, just watched closely as his ears and brain processed all that was said.
"Thank you for your honesty young one," Parerus pursed his lips and then frowned. "There is not much we can do... there are only a few of us left on the watchtower. If Dawnstar is captured, it will be quite the battle to get in and back out again."
"I actually have a plan, it might not work but it will at least get us in." Dennis smiled anxiously as all eyes were on him. He could even feel Winnie's eyes beat down on him as he takes a loud audible gasp and lets everyone in on the plan...
Parerus stroked his chin in thought, he was not sure this plan would work but it was the best thing he's heard for a plan - in fact, it was the only plan he had heard. Nobody else suggested anything else that could expand or improve on Dennis' plan.
"I am not entirely confident with this plan little one," he began. "But it's the only one we've got." Parerus gathered his belongings and weapons and nodded over to his remaining few men on the watch. "We leave in 2 hours. Get your things ready and take them with you... We have a castle to take over."
