After uncle Kenny and his family left last night, I told dad that Emmett and talked, and that he and I are hanging out today. I told dad that I am willing to give Emmett another chance since it really wasn't his fault that I was mad, and dad proceeded to give me the speech of not having unprotected sex. You know that conversation parents feel that they need to have that we don't want to hear. Dad left the house this morning at 7:30 a.m. for work, and he will be home by Wednesday morning with a promise of calling to check on me while he's gone since I'm staying home alone with Duke.
By 10:30 a.m., I'm dressed for the day, I've fed and watered Duke, let him play outside for a while, and now I'm in the living room waiting for Emmett to arrive. Flipping through the choices on Hulu, I select an episode to watch until he arrives, and he does on time.
Letting him into the house, I write out; "Let me make sure the doors are locked, and then we can leave."
"Not a problem, Briar," he grins as I head to the kitchen slider to make sure it is locked, pat Duke on the head, and head back into the living room.
"Ready?" he questions with a fond smile, and I nod while grabbing my house key off the hook by the door.
Leaving the house, I lock the door behind us, and stop in awe at Emmett's car. He has a red, 2017 Ford Mustang with a black racing stripe.
Emmett chuckles at my gobsmacked expression; "Pretty, isn't she?"
Furiously nodding my head as we start walking again to to climb into the car. Buckling myself in, I then lightly run my left hand over the dash in front of me, and when he chuckles again, my skin turns cherry red. Pouting at him as I settle back into my seat as he starts the engine, and he just grins at me before pulling out of the driveway toward town.
"I was thinking we could eat at 'Richie's', how does that sound?" he asks before quickly glancing at me to see my nod of agreement.
"Awesome. They make the best pizzas, well everything there is great," he says with a wide grin as he's focused on the road.
Ten minutes later, we're at 'Richie's', and as he turns the engine off, he seriously says; "Stay there until I open your door, okay?"
When I nod with a shy smile, he climbs out, shuts his door, and rushes around the hood to open my door for me. He holds out his left hand with a sexy smirk, and a wink. Chuckling lowly, I smile brightly at him as I place my right hand on his, and allow him to help me out. Standing on my tip toes with my hand still in his, I lightly kiss his cheek in thanks. Emmett smiles at me as he tucks my hand into his elbow to lead me inside the restaurant.
The woman behind the podium greets us with a wide smile; "Hello and welcome to 'Richie's'. Will there be more joining you?"
"No ma'am," Emmett politely replies with a soft smile.
She leads us to a table for two that has a jar candle lite, and leaves the two menus on the table as Emmett pulls my chair out for me, as she says; "Your server will be with you shortly."
We thank her as she walks away, and a couple of minutes later, a male around our age arrives with a bright smile; "Hello, my name is Miles. Do you know what you would like to drink?"
"I'd like a coke with no ice, please. Babe, what do you want?" Emmett replies with a tender smile.
Pointing at him, I nod, and I hope he understands which he does, so he tells the server for me. We also order a large pizza with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, green pepers, and pineapples before Miles leaves with a promise of bringing our drinks right out, and our food when it is ready.
"How's your day been so far?" he asks softly.
Taking my phone from my left front pocket to type; "Good. I didn't do much before you arrived. Do you have any siblings?"
Turning the phone around so he can read it; "That's a good point. I have a younger half sister, April, who is 8-years-old, and she lives with my dad and step-mom. What are your plans for after graduation?"
"I'm planning on attending trade school to become a plumber," he grins at me, and I smile back at him instantly since he seems excited about this. "What are you doing, and do you have any siblings?"
Shaking my head at him as I type; "No siblings, even though I wanted siblings. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, as I was planning on being a paramedic, but not anymore. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do now."
Emmett frowns as Miles brings us our drinks with a kind smile before quietly leaving, and Emmett asks; "Why don't you want to become a paramedic anymore?"
"I don't think that would be a good fit for me since I don't speak," I type, and then show him.
"I'm sure any department would love, and need someone who is fluent in ASL," he replies, and I hadn't thought of it like that.
Shrugging in response, he frowns at me, but he doesn't pursue the question, as I show him what I typed; "What's your favorite color?"
"Blue, and will you be my boyfriend?" he asks with a tentative smile.
My jaw drops in shock as my fingers still over the phone, as I was prepared to type out an answer. Shaking myself out of my stupor enough to type and show him; "YES!!!!"
