 Wednesday night -

Tonight is dad's first night off, and we are having dinner at Emmett's home, so his mom can meet dad and I. I'm excited to meet her, yet a little worried that she won't like me. We are going to arrive at their house at 5:30 p.m., and we are bringing dessert with us, and it's an apple pie that dad and I have just finished making, and it's in the oven.

"Bri, go get ready, and if you are done before the pie is, I will shower, and you can take it from the oven," dad says with a grin as he gestures me from the house.

Nodding, I leave the kitchen to my room to stripe from my clothes, tossing these into hamper before entering the bathroom to shower. Scrubbing myself clean from top to bottom before turning off the water, step from the shower to dry off. Brushing my teeth and hair, I enter my room to dress in black underwear, socks, ripped jeans, combat boots, and a black button-down shirt. Spraying myself with my body spray, I then grab my wallet and phone to leave the room, so dad can get ready.

By 5:30 p.m., dad is knocking on Emmett's front door while I carry the still warm apple pie. The door opens several seconds later by Emmett, who smiles brightly at us. Man, he always looks sexy, but damn does he look F.I.N.E. dressed in all black, and his button-down shrit sleeves are rolled up to his elbows, and the top two buttons are undone.

"Please, come in," he offeres with a smile at us that turns into a smirk at me one dad walks past him.

"Hey baby, you look amazing as always," he purrs lowly as he gently kisses my lips.

Blushing harshly as we pull away as I allow my eyes to rake over him again in appreciation. Smirking at him, he chuckles when he notices me biting my lower lip in want.

"Good to know you feel the same as me, baby," he purrs, and I nod eagerly in reply.

"Emmett, are you boys joining Blake and I in the kitchen?" a woman's voice asks with a light musical laugh.

"Yes!" Emmett calls back with a wink at me. "Come on, baby, let's go join them."

Entering the kitchen behind him, I understand fully where Emmett's beauty comes from as his mom is extremly beautiful. She is around 5'5" tall, lean build, sholder length brown hair, and brown eyes.

"Mom, this is Briar, my handsome boyfriend," Emmett introuduces with a fond smile at me. "Briar, this amazing woman is my mom, Emery MacLaughlin."

Placing the pie on the counter carefully before holding my right hand out to shake hands with her. I'm utterly shocked when Emmett and Ms. MacLaughlin smirk at me just before she pulls me by the hand into her body for a warm, motherly hug.

"Welcome to the family, Briar," she kindly whispers into my left ear.

Softly smiling into her neck before pulling back to give her my smile as I mouth; "Thank you, ma'am."

"Please call me Emery," she warmly replies, her smile crinkling the skin around the corners of her eyes.

Slowly nodding my acceptance to her request, she then states; "Dinner is ready, so why don't we sit down and eat?"

The four of us sit at the small round table that fits four people, we eat and talk. Emery and Emmett made a salad with lasagna, and let me tell you this was the best lasagna I have ever had. After dinner was consumed, and then cleaned, we head to the backyard to enjoy the evening. Dad and Emery sit on the wooden swing to talk while Emmett and I lie on our backs on the grass to look at the night sky. Lying my head on his right arm as he folds his left arm behind his head.

"Look, there's a shooting star!" he softly says while pointing to it. "Make a wish, baby."

Closing my eyes tightly, I make my wish - that Emmett and I will have a long, and happy life together. Rolling onto my side, I snuggle myself into his warm and comfortable body, and I can feel myself falling asleep. Emmett isn't helping this either as he is gently rubbing his fingers over my arm.

"Don't fall asleep, baby," Emmett softly chuckles, and I snuggle further into his body with a content sigh.

His chest under my face vibrates again as he lowly chuckles making me grin. Picking my head up slightly to lie my chin on his peck to grin at him sleepily as he suggests; "Let's sit up, so you don't fall asleep. Although, I would love for you to sleep cuddled in my arms every night."

We get up to kick a soccer ball around his small, fenced in backyard for about thirty minutes before the four of us head back inside for dessert. Once the pie is served on plates with forks, we sit in the living room to eat this, and talk more. I'm happy to see that dad and Emery are getting along as well as they are. I think Emmett has noticed, and I'm sure he is happy as well about this, too.

By 10 p.m., dad and I are heading home since Emmett and I have school in the morning, and Emery has to work at 8 a.m. at the cafe that she works at. She works at 'The Red Linnen' in downtown. I had an absolute wonderful time tonight, and I know dad did, too, as he told me this on the way home. I realy would love for him and Emery to be friends, especially as I see Emmett and I together for the rest of our lives.
