Ileana POV

Rain pounded against the window pane of the car as we drove down the empty roads that lead to my school. I was surprised they were letting me back there this term after all the ‘accident’ I had supposedly been involved in. But my head master was all about giving people second chances. Well I had been given a second chance, and a third, and a fourth, still the accident kept happening, and I still kept getting the blame. I didn’t even know if it was me or not, but things always seemed to go badly wrong when I was around. It seemed as though every time someone annoyed me or said something I didn’t like something bad would happen.

For example, the first time it happened I forgot to do my homework because I’d been too busy over the weekend, which was actually true, so the teacher decided to make an example of me by hauling me up to the front of the classroom and proceeded to lecture me and the rest of the class about how important homework really was. As she rambled on calling me ignorant and disrespectful and other such things I felt myself becoming angry. It wasn’t my fault I’d had no time to do my homework and it wasn’t like I regularly didn’t do it. As my anger increased I noticed that the lights began to flicker and rattle in there cases. I clenched my fists and as I did the light bulbs shattered, glass fell on the desks as students covered there heads. I was so shocked by what had happened that I ran from the classroom leaving everyone staring after me, whispering about what I had done. They all said it was me and I never argued with them. I blamed myself as well.

But it was never the accidents that worried me. It was how they could even happen. I mean it seemed like magic most of the time. People started trying to ignore me thinking I’d do something and cause another ‘accident’, while others went out of there way to provoke me trying to make something happen so I would get in trouble again.

The car pulled into the school gates and stopped. Before my mum could say goodbye I grabbed my bag and flung it over my shoulder before getting out. I looked towards the school building watching the other students walking in the gates chatting to friends under there umbrellas. I waited until the car had left before I turned and walked out of the school gates. I wasn’t going to even bother going anymore. I wasn’t wanted there by people so why should I bother. I pulled the hood up on my black coat and left the school grounds walking instead towards the main road that lead towards home.

James POV

“She’s gone.” I said down the phone as I stood opposite the school gates watching Ileana leave. She had no idea I was there. I continued to watch her until she was gone from sight.

A few minutes later a car pulled up beside me. I opened the door and got in.

“You’re sure it’s her?” the man in the back of the car with me asked.

“Pretty sure. She’s been there through all the occurrences we heard about in the last two months. I’d say it was her.” I told him confidently.

“And she doesn’t know anything, am I right?”

I nodded.

“Right.” He sat thinking for a moment before he spoke again. “We need to keep track of her until we can find a way the contact her and get her to safety.”

“I can do that. I know where she lives; I got the information off her school records. She won’t even know I'm there until I want her to.” I offered.

The man nodded. “Then I’ll send someone to pick you both up tomorrow morning. That way you have some time to explain things.” The car stopped and I stepped out into the rain heading towards her home where I knew she would be. “Oh and James, use your abilities if you have to just get her on our side.” he shouted after me as the car sped away.
